Yet another unusual problem!

Got a unusual problem. every time I try to enter The Concord  Museum, the game crashes.

I've tried with and without mods installed but still the game crashes at the same point.  I've even tried uninstalling game and then reinstalling but to no avail it still crashes at that point.

I cant progress into the story quests , and its already driving me nuts.

What else can I try?

How do I skip the Concord Museum mission?

Have you verified your install?   The issue you are describing comes primarily from two sources:

1) Mod that affects the Museum, this will include mods that put stuff in the museum, not just ones that expand/modify the interior.

2) corrupt install process and missing files.

Note on re-installing.    Beth Studio games have or had an annoying habit of being lazy on re-installs.  This is why verifying the install (if you are using Steam) is better than re-installing.   Out of habit, I clean my PC when I uninstall one of the big games, dumping all the left over DLL, the user files associated with games no longer installed, etc.

3) Corrupt save file (if you are not starting all over after the re-install).

4) less likely source is an error in your HDD.

5) less likely source is a mod affecting raiders.

I've verified the install, tried to enter museum before installing any mod (still crashes) :(

Throws up message about graphic driver fail.

Think I've located what's doing this problem. I recently updated my video card drivers, Now some of my other games just crash on start up :(

I will try and clean out my PC of all junk files.

Thanking  you for your idea's

My Graphic card is Nvidia GeForce GT 705

I know it's not really compatible with FO4,

but having everything set to low, Allow me to play the game.

Getting similar problems with Skyrim SE and LE now,

I think My graphic card drivers "FUBAR"

You need AT LEAST a Geforce 950.........

another thing, I would recommend is to rename(DO NOT DELETE) the meshes and Textures folders in the DATA folder of Fallout 4

because having a broken mesh(exiting) or texture(entering) will crash the game as well.

your card was release on 27 Mar 2014.    Kudos on keeping it coming along for so long.   While FO4 came out in Nov 2015, you should have been able to run FO4.......without any enhancements via mods.   However......  the min is a 550 (made in Nov 2011).    However, the card you are using is .......well..  .......

Hey look at it this way, at least you got some play time out of it.    Consider all the money you have saved over the years too.  That is worth something, isn't it?

In other words, you are putting your stock BMW 330 into the Indy 500.   I cannot help you with settings, other than what you do already (setting everything to low).

BTW, you can play with skipping Concord, but you will not be able to progress the main mission line.   I would be curious if you could get into any other interior space.

Some of the other more experienced gamers here may be able to help, but I think you may be in a small minority of "classic" GPU users.

My graphic card was an upgrade, All I could afford at the time, :(

What was in there to begin with,  was the on board Lenovo graphic card but that couldn't even handle 3D chess :)

I can get into most places other than the museum,

Diamond city I can get into there but my FPS drops from 60 to 20.

Going anywhere near Quincy also drops my FPS.

I only updated to drivers so I could play Stellaris, Surviving Mars , & planet Coaster.

The first two work great now,  Planet Coaster Crashes still on start up.

As for Tropico 6 :( that starts up fine, but try and start a New game (even a sandbox game) and it crashes the PC  ?

Its starting to look like I need to get a new graphic card.  :(

Out of curiosity what resolution are you running at. You "MIGHT" be able to get past running on a lower resolution and low graphics settings. It might be worth a try . Otherwise you can "TRY" and this could really fubar the game so save before trying. type in the console sqs MQ102 and it should list the stages. Then type in Setstage mq102 XX for each uncompleted/unset stage in the sqs list up to stage 90 then setstage mq102 for stages 100, 105, then you'll need to tcl while outside and go onto the roof where the power armor is. At that point when you put the fusion cell into the power armor the quest should update itself telling you to enter the armor. if it doesn't then you'll have to setstage for stage 110, the next is picking up the minigun and if it doesn't update there you'll need to setstage for stage 115. if after that it still doesn't update itself you'll need to setstage for all the remaing stages after 115 up to stage 1000 which should complete the quest. remember to do the setstages ONE at a time and exit out of the console after each before setting the next stage. Good luck and hope it helps.

@Oldwolf58 is correct that you can advance any quest line by command lines, and you can use YT to see what you missed at any stage of a quest line.    Unfortunately, getting a new GPU is tricky these days.   High end ones have jumped up more than double in cost in some cases (my GPU is nearly three times what I paid for it).   There are some deals to be had on refurbished ones, but...... some of the former reliable websites (newegg) have allowed questionable providers to sell stuff, so be sure to check the sellers reputation when buying refurbished GPUs.

The  Resolutions I play on are,

720p   1280 x 720

refresh rate 60Hz

Found this to be the most stable size. :)

Any larger and It play in slow motion

So many console commands,   Never knew about  MQ102 will give this a go TY :):)

I know around October the next gen GPU's will be out and that should lower prices of the others of a bit ( I only buy PC parts from ARIA.co.uk , the parts come normally with 12 - 18 months warranty ).
