Skyrim SE and Skyrim AE mods?

I have an ongoing game started with Skyrim SE (v1.5.97) and I have noticed that a lot of mods have been updated to Skyrim AE. Can you use Skyrim AE mods on a Skyrim SE game?

the only thing you need to worry about are mods with a dll. These must have a version for AE / 1.6+ / SKSE 2.1.5+.

 

I wouldn't rush updating though, there isn't much you gain by doing so.

No, if they require new SKSE. I am on 1.5.97 myself and I only update mods that don't require new runtime. And even that not always. The bottom line is: if you have a stable setup as is, there's little point in updating just for the sake of updating.
