chajapa Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 New installs on new computer. Using MO2. I have LE and SE. My plan was to be able to mod in SE. I've been modding LE on my old computer for quite a few years. I installed Creation Kit and it installed into the Skyrim instance instead of the Skyrim Special Edition instance. I know there are things I need to do to prepare for modding SE, but I think it'll screw up my LE instance if I start making changes there. I can't seem to UNinstall it (CK) and I can't find a listing of exactly what files it installed. Some are obvious (the papyrus compiler folder) but I have no idea about others. Does steam give us a way to uninstall it. I had the Skyrim LE instance running when I downloaded it and wonder if maybe that was the issue. But switching to the SE instance doesn't give me an option to redownload. Any help appreciated.
Just Don't Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 CK for LE is found in Steam Tools, if you have Skyrim LE in your account. CK for SE is found in the Steam store page, as a free program. The former should be installed directly into your game installs, the later as a separate game/program in the default Steam library fodler (Steam\steamapps\common\...). In either case the install should not be anywhere near your MO2 folder/instance. So I don't understand how these could be mixed around. You can uninstall CK from Steam as any other game, but it's likely it'll leave some files behind.

That's why it went to the ...\common\Skyrim Went to the Store and got the Creation Kit for SSE and it went to the ...\common\Skyrim Special Edition folder as it should. And it wasn't IN an MO2 instance. I had thought the fact that I was in an LE instance when I first downloaded it was why it went where it did. I now understand it makes no difference what instance I'm in, the correct version installs to the correct location. Odd that they're offered in 2 different places, but... I think that part is sorted. Now I can work on getting it ready to actually do something. Thanks again for setting me on the right path
