Bluegunk Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 I sometimes find a SIMs CAS mod arrives with TURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_Tuning.package packed in it. When I installed one of these, I got an error saying WW could not find the Tuning package. May I please check that I am right to ignore these mod-packed versions of TURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_Tuning and only allow the one from WW to exist? Probably seems a stupid question to ask, but I'm new to all this SIMS stuff. Thanks!

Whenever you download Custom Sims there's a chance they've included parts of other Mods that don't belong. Yes they can cause big problems if you install them. I always check them carefully because they can also have duplicate CC items you might already have installed. Some include default body parts, skins, eyes, etc., that I don't want in my game either. Once you have Wicked Whims installed and working you don't want any other versions or duplicates added. 2

In addition to Scorpio's great advice, get in the habit of doing these four things when you add new CC to your game: 1. Put all new CC into a 'Test' folder in your 'Mods' folder and keep the CC there until you verify that it doesn't cause any new problems in your game. Once you've played for a while and no new problems have occurred, then move the new CC into your organized folders. 2. Check your Mods folder for duplicate files. There are lots of free utilities out there for this purpose. I use this feature rich app but it is probably overkill for most users: https://www.mindgems.com/products/Fast-Duplicate-File-Finder/Fast-Duplicate-File-Finder-About.htm 3. Launch 'Sims 4 Studio' and click on the 'My CC' button. Look at every package file you added and make sure the flags are setup the way you want them and also verify that the CC displays as it should. I don't add any new CAS CC into my game without looking at it with Sims 4 Studio first! 4. Delete the 'localthumbcache.package' file in your /Document/Electronic Arts/Sims 4/ folder. Do all of the above BEFORE you load up the Sims 4. Edited May 17, 2022 by SkyBarbie 1
Bluegunk Posted May 17, 2022 Author Posted May 17, 2022 Thanks for the additional advice, SkyBarbie! Very much appreciated! 1
PINEHILL Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Still valid tips, thankyou. Migth add that today I found some duplicates with the help of Betterexceptions mod. The duplicates was not the same file name so I guess I downloaded some stolen/altered CC. I try to keep above tips but with 3000+ mods it's easy something slip thrue when EA do their best to break our game with every update 🙂
