tankball Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 right now my laptop is a HP Laptop 14-dk1025wm. its a good laptop since the bios update that came out that fix all the problems with it. but as the title says i have a modded sim 4 family with 14 sims at times they will just stand there doing nothing its and its due to the laptop only have 2 cores. when i run the same save on my desktop with a 6 core ryzen CPU the sims tend to do still alot more then just standing around. so im thinking of geting a ryzen 5 laptop that has 6 cores itself. but i was wonding what u all would think would work. the most i can go for is $500. so no gaming laptops.
✧☽✭☾✧Jᗩᑎᗴᒪᒪ✧☽✭☾✧ Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Check if you can upgrade the ram by at least 8gb-12gb and invest in a new or used gaming graphics card.
Crazy Doll Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Got an i5 8300h, 8gb ram, with a GTX 1650 4Gb VRAM. I run the game with a 100+ Gb mods folder + reshade + Gforce Experience filters without any issue. Bought this laptop in november 2020 for 799€. For 500€ will be hard to find a laptop with a CGU, you'll find only graphic chipset like Intel HD series that aren't recommended for gaming.

The game really only uses 2 cores so don't worry too much about 6 cores as the primary core clock speed is more important. 6 cores is fine if you don't overspend for it though. 16GB Ram Decent Dedicated Graphics with 4GB memory not shared with the CPU. SSD A desktop with the same specs will still run circles around a laptop. Large houses with lots of clutter and too many sims on a lot will be more taxing on any given system but laptops are the worst obviously. Personally I don't think any $500 Laptop will be much better than what you have now. You need to spend $1k or more to get there and I'd still be skeptical if only because what you're trying to do.

thaclone Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 if you have a desktop PC, why would you use a laptop for gaming? no matter how much money you spend on a laptop, it will be far from a middle class desktop PC don't invest in a laptop, if you don't have to
