[Request] New bank system

Heyho,

I have an idea for a mod but not the time to realize it (even though I'd wanted to try): a new banking mod, for "Bank Silver Blood"

my idea is to provide a working/robust bank system with The Treasure Room in Markarth as base location. There would be employees in every capital (maybe the stewards), deposits, disburses, interests and loans.

On top of that though, to differ from existing banking mods, it should be quite simple to hook into these mechanisms and add plugins for smaller features. Some examples:

  • add the remaining loan on the due date as bounty in the hold where the loan got took out (could be the consequence of the base, too)
  • add work for the player, like being a courier for valuables (could tie in with S.L.U.T.S.)
  • try to collect loan payments of NPCs
  • being sold into slavery when ignoring a loan (could tie in with Simple Slavery)
  • simply add more employees or locations
  • Another tie in for Simple Slavery could be the possibility to buy yourself free with your bank account during an auction
  • Thieves breaking into the bank and stealing some of your gold

Many plugins probably won't be that big, so they could get .esl-ified, too.

What do you think about that idea? What features should the foundation provide and do you think enough people have ideas for plugins?

I think there are many mods out there, that make a bank a nice feature to not loose all your money when being defeated, raped or stopped during a cart ride ...

Is someone willing to do this, as I lack the time :/

I don't mind at all, as I said I'd like to see it realized but lack the time to do it myself :/

Only a credit for the idea would be nice if something comes to be ;)

+1 for modular construction.

This also looked cool: Skyrim Investor

Problem with adding locations: I've got an extensively modified Solitude, Whiterun, and Riften, and I'm not competent enough to combine landscape-changing mods.

What about a FOMOD or MCM page that allows you to set which bank locations get created?

Perhaps an alternative is 'guy with goons' wandering around who acts like a bank... and is rather overpowered if attacked (but give the PC a few hits before he goes aggro, as we all know how easy it is to miss once or twice with a fireball or something).

(humorously, someone could create a Dwemer ATM to set into city walls or a big block of stone, but I think this would get flagged and flogged as non-immersive)

That's why my base idea only uses a Vanilla location as bank house: The Treasury Room in Markarth (yes, that still would potentially need patches).

It would be up to mod plugins to add more locations though and it would be your choice whether you install those plugins or not ;)

Utter win!

As long as the plugins are labeled intelligibly, like bank_branch_whiterun.esl or bank_moneylender_whiterun.esl .

Suggested mod name: Framework Bank - because that's what it is/would be.

I'm sorry to suggest that at least one bank person should have Nazeem's voice... just the style of oily snooty ooze I'd expect from a banker.
