I believe in just due then just do.

If I can't find something reasonably then I'll explore other options.

For example an out of print movie. I love old horror/grindhouse movies. If I can't find it on DVD or Blu-ray but it's on Youtube well I'm gonna watch it on Youtube.

I agree with the "just do".

In this case used above where no other option is found after really trying and attempting to get a copy.. it is difficult to argue not watching it or obtaining the movie even if it is a rip. My sister loved a particular movie. The move was way out of print. Finally it was found in a video store that wouldn't sell the DVD. No other options she ripped it. It reminded her of her childhood she loved that movie and even destroyed the VHS tape from playing it so much. A couple of years later she / or a friend of hers found a nice full box DVD of the movie on the web for sale. Needless to say she bought it there and then. Tested it when it came to her house and put it up safely.

For the most part I don't think that legal officials where we live are concerned with these minor infractions of the law. The are more likely concerned with those that have entire hard drives full of ripped, pirated content.

Most of the time they don't because it costs too much for one person... but sometimes, just sometimes, they get the itch to crucify somebody and make people scared that they could be next.

It's not copyright related, but that one guy who was tossed in jail for TERRORISM because he made a stupid, tasteless joke on Facebook about shooting up a school and eating hearts. he clarified that he was kidding, but oops, somebody didn't like that and now he's on suicide watch and they want to take 10 years of his life because big daddy government has to show everybody that you can't have fun on the Internet anymore.

This and others incidents only prove that the system is wrong. The rules should make sense and be applied fairly. It isn't. The instance you mention about crucify someone so that people will be scared they will be next only works on those that try to follow the law. Those like some individuals that download something because it isn't available to buy. If they could they would. The individuals that appear to be the worst offenders aren't as affected in the same way. The believe that they won't be caught. They might use methods to hid their IP and other techniques to help protect themselves. They are likely to be far more difficult to detect and hold accountable. Also some might even be in locations where laws and such aren't enforced where copy-write infringement isn't a big deal. The powers that be need to think a little more and come up with a better solution, the solution(s) that they are using just don't work at least not the way(s) that they believe they should.
