nakadashiaddict Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Recently I thought I might try my hand at making a hentai game. Probably a simple side-scrolling action game along the lines of Buchikome High Kick or Undercover Girl. I was wondering if anyone here can give me some pointers, particularly any recommendations for software/applications to make the game in, and resource libraries for SFX and music. Any guides for making a hentai game (ideally text guides rather than video guides) would also be appreciated.
DocClox Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I've never tried my hand at side scrollers, but there's a bunch of text tuts for makeing them in PyGame, if you can cope with Python. You'll need a sprite editor. Last time I did sprite work I got by with Inkscape and a little gimpwork, but these days there seem to be a pile of free dedicated sprite editors. For music, you can't go far wrong with Kevin MacLeod
supreme_sinner Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 I'd suggest starting smaller and simpler. Game dev is deceptively time involving. Have you considered visual novels?

Have you considered visual novels? I have, and I do have one or two ideas for such things, but the problem is that there's already an insane amount of visual novels out there already, and I've noticed that a lot of people are getting quite sick of this. There's a lot of people who don't want deep plots or lots of dialogue, just a quick horny fix that they can drop in and out of easily without spending 30-60 minutes just to get to the first topless scene. I see their point, as well. I'm more willing to play something that gets straight to the point than something like School Days.

Perhaps something about it is fiendishly complex and puts people off doing it.
myuhinny Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 A Musou game is basically a open beat them up, hack n' slash game. You play as any character you want and then run through like hundreds of enemies. It's mindless fun simply. The term Musou is an umbrella term for powerful moves used by playable characters and enemy officers in Warriors games, and a term that is usually the Japanese equivalent of Warriors.
nakadashiaddict Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 Ah, I see. That's basically what I had in mind but a little less "open", I guess you could say, and also with not too many enemies but still a fair number. I guess kind of like Blazing Angel Mistletear but with less dialogue, less still images, and more animated scenes.
nakadashiaddict Posted April 29, 2022 Author Posted April 29, 2022 Not familiar with that one so I can't say. I'm trying to think of a close comparison but so far I haven't actually played anything that similar to my idea. Which is probably why the idea came to me. Well, that and several other ideas, including a few that could work as VNs but... I dunno. Not sure where I'd start, what I'd want to work on first. I'd have to feel around with different programs and see what I can actually get to grips with. And also try to find the time for all the artwork and animations. Starting to think that trying to solo this would be a super bad idea.
myuhinny Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Double Dragon is a beat 'em up video game series initially developed by Technōs Japan and released as an arcade game in 1987. The series features twin martial artists, Billy and Jimmy Lee, as they fight against various adversaries and rivals. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Dragon#Other_appearances_and_related_games https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTy6NS7Bciw
nakadashiaddict Posted May 1, 2022 Author Posted May 1, 2022 Then... kind of. The idea I had was a harem-building game that involved fighting some NPCs and monsters before getting a chnace to fight one of a number of girls. Defeat her and then you get to the H-scenes and try to get her to join your harem (through mind break). It would be kind of side-scrolling at first (but not forced side scrolling like some Mario games. Like, you can go back if you want, it's just not necessary most of the time). Then when you get to the girl it switches to overhead view so you can try to sneak up on her and get the first hit in.
