Bodies become bigger when certain BodySlide armor is put on, causing clipping

So I download an armor piece, build it in bodyslide, and it looks fine, but then in game the body suddenly grows when the armor is put on, which causes clipping, not just with the armor but with the hands/head.

You can see the body changes into something different and the hands clip, the default body is in line with the hands, and the armor would fit it without clipping. This only happens for some outfits, sometimes from the same exact pack as working ones.

I know absolutely nothing about BodySlide other than that pressing the "build" button makes armor appear in game, and that works just fine most of the time.

Your problem is that the armour is NOT adapted to the body type you are using.

First of all, what kind of body do you use? CBBE? UNP? Does the armour have bodyslides?

Possible clue in the fact that the top image was taken from BS.

Personally I can't see a difference with the body in the two images. The problem to me is that the hands and probably feet have not been built to the armour or when the body was built to the preset the hands and feet were not.

the difference is in the breasts, in the second picture they are more prosperous than in the first one.

As far as hands and feet are concerned, as you say, they have not been built, so you have to recreate them by adapting them to your body.

The body I'm using is CBBE, the curvy version. In the case of the above armor it's simply listed as CBBE BodySlide as are almost all the armors I download. I always assumed this meant it works for any of the CBBE types. There is no version bigger than the curvy version, so I don't think this is why the body grows.

On Point A: Works with every CBBE Type you are correct but you clearly missed to actually read what Bodyslide does.

The Armor you download doesn't magically shapes itself depending on your Body, you have to build it with Bodyslide. Don't worry it's quite easy and once you learned it you will be making your own custom body pretty soon. Look up a guide, there are many.

This is what I don't understand, you can see in the above picture that the armor fits on the body I have in bodyslide. When equipped in game the body attached to the armor itself changes making the armor clip. If these things aren't visually apparent in bodyslide itself then how are you supposed to build it? Like I said this doesn't happen to all armors, and the ones that clip all clip in this exact same way.

It seems like this is something more specific that wouldn't be covered in the average guide. If the body didn't change when I put on the armor, the armor would fit perfectly.

It is the basic thing covered in lot of guides.

This is a crap one, there are better out there if you look.

I mean right off the bat that video shows building the "CBBE Body" which I don't at all have available in BodySlide despite working in-game. This a problem I've never been able to find online but even without it the body showed up when viewing other armor sets, like in the picture, and other armors would work with it.

Explains a lot.

Here is something you need to do: Open bodyslide, scroll to something that shows the cbbe body you are using. Doesn't matter what.

Then click on the right side "Save under" which will resave your preset. Click on every Checkbox it shows you and save it with a name you can remember. Then go to an Armor or outfit in Bodyslide and click on presets. Should be visible now.

If you can't find your preset anywhere.. Then you simply don't have any premade cbbe presets need to make or install one

Tried this just now, selected an item in BodySlide which fits perfectly in-game and shows the body, clicked "Save As..." and saved the preset with everything check-marked, then opened the Herme Mora Bikini (the armor in the picture) in BodySlide and selected the preset, built it, and unfortunately it still grows and clips in-game. The only difference is that in the BodySlide preview the armor now floats just a bit above the body, and so fits better on the bigger body which shows up.

Do you see anything like this? Obviously you will have CBBE related names (which I haven't a clue about) but you should have the CBBE body in the top dropdown and the particular preset in the lower dropdown.

You need to first build the CBBE body, the CBBE hands and the CBBE feet to the preset. Make sure the 'Build Morphs' box at the bottom is ticked.

Then you need to build all your outfits to the preset. Use 'Batch Build' for that and make sure the box is still ticked for the morphs.

If you do not have anything in one or both of the dropdowns then you need to look at what you have done or not done when installing BS and or your CBBE body.

Yeah that's a problem I've had since I installed CBBE, I've been modding for a few months now and it hasn't caused problems before, but there is no "CBBE Body" option in BodySlide at all. This is what I said I could never find any solutions to before so I just ignored it, CBBE still works in-game. and all the armor pieces show the body in the preview, but I've never actually built it.

No idea why, I've installed everything with NMM. Maybe I could try reinstalling CBBE?

EDIT: Just reinstalled CBBE with Nexus Mod Manager real quick, still no BodySlide option.

Post your load order.

Post a jpg screenshot of your BS with the dropdowns opened. (As in the image I posted).

Which CBBE body do you use?

Which preset are you trying to use?

I'm off to bed.

I don't see how the load order or a screenshot would help. CBBE works fine there is just 0 trace of it in BodySlide. I'm using CBBE Curvy, and there is no preset.

So btw I use Skyrim LE, not SE. And I just checked the CBBE files on Nexus. It looks like this.

Notice something missing? Yeah, the BodySlide files. The SE version looks like this.

This is probably too obvious, but is this the reason I have no CBBE Body options in my BodySlide? The files literally aren't there.

The most common error would be the the armor has it's own body mesh included with the armor and it's not being converted to you custom body.

Open up the armor and delete the default body and import your own body. mesh.  Manually edit the armor to fit then set it as the ref and copy the body weights (if any) to the armor.

It's a pain, but after you covert a bunch of outfits, it's just something to live with. I didn't read too carefully, but I trust you are using a mod manager. leave a copy of your body mesh in the override and copy it to what armor you're converting.

I SOLVED IT.

It was the dumbest possible thing. Apparently when I installed BodySlide for the first time I didn't select the "CBBE body" option. In SSE, the CBBE files for BodySlide are included in the download for Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Enhancer, but for the Oldrim version the files are placed in the BodySlide download instead, and have to be selected in the BodySlide installer. When I installed BodySlide originally I wasn't using CBBE so I didn't pick those files.

Once I actually had the CBBE files. I followed Gukahn's earlier advice on how to create a preset, and then applying that to the armor pieces makes them fit and stop clipping.

Vague unspecific "advice" you threw around randomly. Just like asking for the load order and questions I already answered. Don't try and help if you're going to get salty when people fix it.

No good deed goes unpunished apparently ?

It amazes me how many people seem to think that 'user error' only happens to other people. If something goes wrong with my game my first move is to review what I have done.

You do realize he quite literally did nothing? Other than get triggered when it got solved. Don't defend weirdos.

Literally nothing? Except the part where he asked you to check the pull downs to see what was listed there, if not correct then you made a mistake installing Bodyslide, which you later admitted you made a mistake, no problem, it happens to us all, missed a check box, no big deal. He then simply pointed out that he asked you that and instead you attack him and say his advice was "vague or unspecific", why?

I fully realize your OP was related to conforming the outfit, but you never would have been able to fix that without fixing the other issue first as pointed out by Grey Cloud. Why does that make you so angry? It seems to be you are very frustrated with what happened in your mod setup and came here just to take out on someone who was foolish enough to offer help. Seems to me you are doing an awful lot of "projection" and you actually seem like the one who is "triggered", I didn't even comment on anything you said or quote you, yet you feel the need to now attack me? Really?

Oh, and as far as defending weirdos, I am the head of the International Weirdos Defense League so please don't even try to tell me who I can or can't defend, I am not your slave, your lacky, or your follower, and you are in no position to order people around.

You have a nice day now; I wish you the best. <--- not an order just an honest suggestion.
