Good Hentai Games? (More of a rant then a request)

So, I'm not sure if I'm the only one that thinks this or how unpopular this opinion is, but.. most hentai games are pretty awful nowadays. Now hold on and hear me out. I mean specifically... the RPGMaker and Visual Novel ones. They are a dime a dozen. So easy to come out with in literal droves! 

It feels very lazy. A way to make a quick buck with not too much effort on the devs. Meanwhile there are hentai game devs busting their chops trying to deliver quality games with full blown animations and actual exciting gameplay. I really despise the RPGmaker genre as its basically sucked the life out of the hentai game market where you used to could find all sorts of gems with interesting gameplay and actual animations. There are just way too many Visual Novels and RPGmaker hentai games out there... cheap, easy to make, and easy to clone and continue. Many publishers do nothing but push out Visual novels and RPGmaker games because they are easy to make en masse, and people just throw their money at them like they're strippers at a club. At least I could see some movement with a stripper lol. 

Sorry, I know I'm getting a bit judgy here. You like what you like, if thats your thing more power to you, but I prefer hentai games with more to it. Platformers, Action, even an angry-birds like one (AKA Flying Princess), so this is the part where I stop the rant and ask of what all Non-RPGmaker/Visual Novel style hentai games does the community know about? Please list em down below if you dont mind!

I've done a bit of animating here and there and its tough work, its much easier to draw static pictures in stages, which is what most of these games do. You don't have to make motion look fluid because there isn't really motion in most of them. Just static images. I like animations and I like actual gameplay beyond the all too common turn based combat in RPGmaker, and having gameplay that isn't just me clicking 1 of 3 options to progress a story. I like putting my skills to the test in addition to the lewd stuff lol.

Did you play every Kagura games and Oneone1 games?

Hentai games may not have reached their heyday yet, but its coming along.  For now its the simple genres.  Early generation video games were pretty basic too (Atari, NES, etc).  Now AAA stuff is a lifestyle for people.  Hentai has got some catching up to do. 

 

If you like sexual pursuit, games like Huniepop are really good.  Galgun games are also a nice mix of kink and pursuit.  Strip-em ups like Deep Space Waifu put a fun arcade twitst on getting girls closes off.  Those are my choice Hentai for now.  None of these are epic 20+ hr quest games, but hey that is what the nude mods are for.  In addition to the mods there are some pretty basic tools out there to make AAA games as sick and perverted as you want.  But it takes time, research, and a little creativity of your own.

Well I mean I've seen plenty of older hentai games where they support either 3d environments or more advanced gameplay functions. I'm not necessarily asking for epic 20+ hr games lol. I just want to see more games that feature animation and some fun gameplay. I mean hell, not really a hentai game, but look at Subverse, it is trying to be a regular video game and porn game at the same time. Take Flying Princess, or Escape Dungeon, or love tavern. I just want there to be more... interesting gameplay.  Heck you even mentioned deep space waifu, even games like that where there is more action to it, more to hold my smol brain attention span XD 

Hell I'll even mention Seed of the Dead, which is not everyone's taste, but I liked the concept of having a horde survival shooter with strong sexual content.

yes, but why would u even play cheapo games like that, its not representative of what "hentai" games are, its representative of what cheap steam cash grabs are that people buy "for the lulz".

I mean I agree, unlike Steam cash grabs, a bit more advanced games are hard to find (generally) but they exist anyway, also depends on how you define "hentai" imo there doesn't necessarily have to be sex scenes or anything, its the intend that counts.

Some examples, id recommend because  they're actually good / fun games (depending on tastes obviously)

just a few OTOMH, most of them have full fledged stories and some actual combat / gameplay thats challenging and of course there are plenty more "hentai" games, although mainstream wise I dont think it gets a lot more hentai than Illusion's offerings.

I really recommend Illusions stuff here, mostly the ones with a story… its not great stories, but they offer at least some gameplay (i guess) with emphasis on actual "hentai" and not just little anime pics you can collect in Steam $0.99 cash grabs for 5 minutes lol.

if you're in the mood for older zelda style gameplay, moon rhapsody is my top pick. the free demo is on itch and it's currently not finished, but from what's available, its lasts for a good 6+ hours of gameplay and the ero scenes are pretty solid.

AAA games are getting new tools all the time. 

My current pet project is transforming Streets of Rage 4 into a hard core hentai.

Free tools like SOR4Explorer.exe and https://www9.lunapic.com/editor/  are making that easy.  No programming knowledge required.  Its still a lot work though.  The tools just make it possible for those who have the time.  I don't buy AAA games if I can't perv them up with mods, unless its Nioh... luv yu

Completely Ignoring the Fact that a "Good" H-game is an utter and entirely subjective thing. I get the impression that you just didn't bother to look stuff up.
Agreed, If you look at RPG-maker stuff, you´ll have to look hard to find something good, But any Platform worth their salt (DlSite.... cough... cough...) has this thing called a filter.
Pretty easy to find other genres there. And plenty of Gems in between. One just has to open their Eyes.

I think game and innovation is not so easy like you say. Many indie dev not game dev full time. Maybe not professional dev by job and only hobbyist project. Many horny gamer also pirate product which add to more problem.

 

When I see similarity from same dev I don't think it is lazy all time. I think it is convenience and continuation. improvement or refinement of technique. Sometime they not want to invent new thing but only continue on with their previous work but add improvement, new story or something. For example I play flash cycling 2. Game reference prior game character as inspiration. Game series focus is on single fetish: exhibitionism. It has bike race mini game but is mostly not good (racing on rpg maker map... has limitation....). still enjoy a lot even with similarity.

 

When in thinking of RPGMaker... I think it invite many dev because tool and support is available but also do not shy away from adult content. Many engine such as unreal allow only limited adult content. Porn will not get support. I think if big engine more open to support adult content where even indie developer can use market place for asset and ideas there will be more room to experiment on gameplay innovation....RPG maker is actually quite limiting. Ren'py is first a VN engine and creating other mechanics (such turn base combat with animation) is not so intuitive here. Good engine with many clear documentation and supportive staff and userbase maybe help developer by reducing time on common problem but will still not make game making to be so easy.

 

Animation I think can be difficult with models. Create clipping that look natural is difficult. Cut in animate portrait is maybe easier but less attractive. I think there are many challenges and it not so realistic.

 

For rpgmaker someone said use dlsite search filter. this is good suggestion. i think it easier also if you know what kind of game you like.

f teacher protag. become a succubus. split between school sim and parallel magic world adventure. combat is not so good with focus on stealth approach by hiding in shadow then attacking enemy back on map to auto kill. character has stat and require semen or go into frenzy. has dom and sub quests. character is adult and not afraid of sex. ?

harem collection. interesting story development. writing is better than many other. focus on political and war against incubus king. your m protag character become incubus and develop support from people and monster to obtain greater power to defeat current incubus king. Art is not strong but it is long, many character and is good.

dystopian project's clair quest

i think this is interesting and hand drawn art is attractive. little combat and brutal story. has some fetish that not for me (animal) but i enjoy different character development. can play without combat and developing claire to be different personality such as aggressive or seductive or sneaky. reminding me of rpg like neverwinter nights with stat check in dialogue leading to different outcome.

scale garden's games.

i enjoy older games. newest one combat and movement a bit slow. move to modern city setting is interesting but i prefer older style. i think latest game's combat style is also more difficult. these focus on single girl slow corruption. many ecchi situation until moment of full sex. sometime a bit brutal and depravity begin to go more. my fav is sangeki of gear.

One of my favorites is Karryn's Prison. It's a top down RPG with older FF style fights that uses the combat system for almost everything.

 

You play as Karryn, the secretary to the Emperors son, who has been placed in charge of a troubled prison. Your job is to bring order to the place by any means necessary. Your actions in combat dictate most of the game, from your stat boosts to how lewd you are and everything in between. As the game progresses you will start to acquire passives that will corrupt you and unlock the lewder side of the game. Eventually, you will be able to win fights via either combat or sex, including the various boss fights.

I don't consider visual novels to be games. They are more like "interactive comics", and generally, they are boring and suck. I hate that they even call them "games".

Oh, that game look amazing, not just as a sex game, but a game generally. Another one in a similar vein is Carnal Instinct. It's further along than Wild Life and had 20-30 hours of quests already and a great combat system. Also, like Wild Life, a beautiful game.

Most h-games I've played were RPGMaker/WolfRPG, Sidescroller &/OR Metroidvania.

The problem with most bad h-games is that the effort to actually download and play the game VS going to e-hentai and looking up its gallery usually falls on the "just look up the gallery" side of things. (OR people do download, but are just going to use a gallery unlocker.)

A game that consists mostly of static CGs*1 and easily gif-able animations is a lot more likely to be treated as a glorified gallery than one with in-gameplay h-events (Like grabs) or an interesting premise.

That last point is what I think is most important here. Slowly, over my time consuming porn I've come to the realization that the most arousing thing you can experience is not big Booba. But big Context

This is why visual novels suck. Sure the story might give you some additional context, but won't you just grok that from the CGs? A lot of h-games are basically the NSFW equivalent of unity asset flip games/mobile games. Not worth the time, and if the porn is good? As I said above, just look it up.

 

Better h-games tend to have one or more of these:

NSFW content integrated directly into the gameplay.                #A game focused on horniness is going to be more arousing than one where it's a side dish.*2

Being an actually well designed and fun game.                         #H+game. Hentai + Game. One can prop the other up, but if one just isn't there—why are you playing it?

Fun / arousing story beats/context.                                             #if playing the game just to get to the porn feels like a chore, then it's probably a bad h-game.

 

 

I don't really have any closing statement. These are just some thoughts I wanted to write out.
