F:4 3BBB Body - Converting CBBE Armors To Have 3BBB Physics

Recommended Posts

I have had some pretty good success with converting CBBE Bodyslide outfits to 3BBB using Outfit Studio. BUT - I cannot get any kind of footwear (heeled boots) to convert. I have followed several guides, but while the boots *appear* to have been converted, wearing them freezes the physics in the body. The other clothing moves with the body as it should. But with the boots, not only does it stop the rest of the body from having physics, it will sometimes cause the body to become invisible, but I know that the reason for that is that I have missed something in copying the bone weights.

For example, I have several of the Vtaw Wardrobe CBBE clothing/armor sets loaded in the game. I've tried to convert all different kinds of footwear from those mods, but to no success.

My confusion is with the bone weights. I realize that I have to copy the bone weights from the reference body, and add it to the boots. But the types of weights - whether to keep or delete (green and white under "bones") One of the issues is that almost all of the footwear comes with its own CBBE body. That's different from the rest of the other type of clothing/armor.

I used SQr17's guide here:

The best way, in my opinion, to convert high heels (or any outfit, in fact) to 3BBB is to simply load your outfit mesh in Bodyslide and do the
following steps;

1-If the body included with your outfit is set as reference (green name), right-click it and click 'Set as reference' again to unset it.
2-Remove breast and butt weights from all shapes, (you can remove all weights too if your outfit is not high-heeled).
3-Then load the 3BBB reference.
4-Select all the non-reference shapes and use the mask tool to mask the footwear and the legs/feet just below the ankle (don't go above the knees).
5-Once masked, you can copy all weights from the 3BBB ref. The weights in the masked area will remain unchanged.
6-Save (make sure to uncheck the 'Copy reference shape..'). This way, you can keep your outfit's included body the same as before (including zaps and other edits) but add 3BBB weights.

It may look like a lot of steps, but it is extremely easy and fast.

P.S. Here's an alternate set of steps if you don't want to mess with masks.

1-If the body included with your outfit is set as reference (green name), right-click it and click 'Set as reference' again to unset it.
2-Remove all weights from all shapes.
3-Then load the 3BBB reference.
4-Select all the non-reference shapes.
5-Copy all weights from the 3BBB ref. (IMPORTANT!: for HHS shoes, increase the search radius in the dialog box to the max. And then head to the bones tab, find the two toe bones, and remove them from the project).
6-Save (make sure to uncheck the 'Copy reference shape...').

I've tried both methods, but clearly my issue is my lack of understanding on the bone weights of the outfits AND the bodies.

Does anyone have anything more detailed for a Newb like myself, that can help? You wouldn't believe how frustrating this is to have my otherwise perfectly converted 3BBB character running around with the great outfits I've successfully converted to 3BBB - and not have ANY footwear.  :(

I can upload screenshots of the boots in Outfit Studio. I can do that later tonight.

There is no reason to convert cbbe outfits to 3bbb cbbe, if you know how to convert outfits you would definetly convert them to fusion girl, also FG has heels slider that can help with heels in outfits

Well, as I said, I have no difficulty converting outfits to 3BBB. They convert and work perfectly. It's the footwear that I'm not getting to work.

I mean people that use cbbe often use it because there some outfits that dont have FG support and they dont know or dont want to convert to FG

And other people use FG because it is better

So if you know how to convert, there is no reason to still use cbbe

I hear what you're saying, and I did have a look at the the FG body, installed it, and I hate to say it, but I think it's damn ugly compared to any of the CBBE bodies. I didn't like the look of it at all. I may be stuck in what I'm trying to do, but sorry, that really isn't an alternative. Thanks for your input, though.

Hey thanks for your post. I'm new but I learned what I needed to from it! :D

If you're still having trouble, for me it was Outfit Studio not saving the *.nif file! Took me a bit to notice.

I don't know why, maybe Vortex was locking files even though it still saving after I deleted the previous *.nif.

After that I just used the export function from file menu to NIF but no reference for everything.

Also noticed I didn't have to delete the weights from all shapes first (I'm new but lazy so I probably messed up lol) and learned to just select the toe and cloth weights in filter and "Mask Weighted Vertices" from there before copying reference weights over.

Cloth weights on VTAW affect the clothes with tails on them like skirt/dress or coat "tails" (not sure what they are called). If you don't mask it first they will stick to your character body.

Do you have a guide for setting up 3BBB Physics? I can't get it to work with AAF.

The skeleton is the most important. If you check the F4 3BBB page, the mod author has a number of points to check in the description. I would read everything there. I followed his recommendations, and had no issues.

This is a method I successfully added 3BBB on the heels, based on one of the mod's article.

1. Load outfit the nif. of the heels.

2. Remove all the bones.

3. Add 3BBB reference.

4. Copy the bones, set to max.

5. Back to bones tab, remove the two toe (left, right) bones.

6. Export to nif.

This at least work for me. I've tried other methods from the articles and comment sections, but didn't work. Just have to try all the method. Hope this help.
