HarryOne Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 They got some campaigns and stuff going on on DMM from what I can gather for the launch of their new cloud service, which is not region-locked provided the game you're trying to play isn't region-locked. Maybe they will eventually update the player to unlock region restrictions for games that don't region lock their servers like VV. And for the person who mentioned it, I doubt this anything to do with the Western restrictions. The only games DMM has to somewhat restrict access to are 18+ games. On a sidenote, I decided to try out the browser version on my phone. Actually felt better than trying to play the browser version on my computer for some odd reason. So like, that's kind of nice in case you don't have access to your phone.
HokageSama Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 We have some issues in the future that concern me: 1 - VPN makes the connection slower. This is boring. 2 - If a VPN error occurs and KT finds out that you use VPN, it may block your real IP (and have your account banned, perhaps). 3 - If we have an offline mode, it harms players who still want to update and KT will lose interest in developing more content. 4 - Because of the conflict, isolation of countries and sanctions, will there be more things beyond the region blockade? I just really hope the community always has a plan B, similar to what happened with Dead or Alive Online from 2008.

Hans Jürgen Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 Strange, don´t have to use VPN from Germany (yet) since I have DMM launcher in system tray for weeks now. When I finally have to reboot I hope it´ll work. Interesting to hear that an offline version has been made (!?) - could be a lifesaver if the game´s official end comes...

Like you said, this is the rule they set on the first day. I have to say a VPN is not a solution Once they maintain a blocking attitude, they should not tolerate the use of VPNs to crack their measures Now maybe it's just a tentative evaluation stage so there is no further action for now, once we start to find out that even a VPN doesn't work, it means that they think players will acquiesce to their approach, You have to give up in the end, because you don't even try to communicate with the authorities, and it's not enough for one or two people to do it Also, if you are very dissatisfied with DMM, I hope everyone will simply ask KT to transfer your account to another platform Well said! DMM and TK take the money and run.

Eisakou Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Well, I do have a subscription to Express VPN and I can play all of the DMM games, but when I turn the VPN off while playing Destiny Child I can still play the game without having to connect back to the VPN during that play session. I have not tested disconnecting the VPN while in other games, but it might work on them.

To play as you usually do, you need a VPN to start the local installed game! (Orange Button: Browser Version | White Button below: Local Installed Version) Anyone not wanting to buy a VPN service, use TUNNELBEAR! It got 500MB free traffic each month, which is enough to start up the game! Just dont download or stream while you have the connection to japanese servers. Also, install the VPN software while Anti-virus software is disabled or you wont be able to connect to other servers. On 2/8/2022 at 11:36 PM, relknum said: The page you linked and quoted from is to troubleshoot the "This service is not available in your region" message at the DMM website. In case people receive the message while they're connecting from Japan, it lists some possible causes. One of the causes is being connected through proxy or VPN. It does not say that VPN or proxies are forbidden to use. It's more like "In case you receive this error while connecting from Japan, please check that you don't route your traffic via a foreign IP". Even if DMM wanted to block all VPN traffic, it wouldn't be easy for them. Most VPN companies today get around VPN blocks either by constantly switching IPs to avoid blocklists or by using obfuscation to make the traffic completely indistinguishable from regular traffic. Large companies like Netflix or countries like China are struggling to block VPNs. I don't see how DMM would succeed where they did not. Also I would imagine a lot of Japanese users are also connecting via VPNs. VPN usage is increasing everywhere and Japan is likely no exception. If DMM somehow managed to block all VPN traffic I don't think the Japanese VPN users would be very happy about it. While they might ignore complaints from foreign users, receiving complaints from Japanese users would be a different story. It remains to be seen if the region block in the beta version of DMM Game Player is even permanent or if it's just for the beta version. Either way you will still be able to play if you start the game while being connected via a VPN server in Japan. On 2/8/2022 at 11:00 PM, osirus47 said: How do you block a VPN? So many Japanese companies try to block VPN access because they strengthen their domestic and international market. Of course, your VPN connection won't be easily blocked right away. However, from a long-term perspective, many Japanese companies already have a set direction, and Japanese popular community websites have already strengthened their measures against VPNs, and some have successfully defended them. I mentioned it in advance a few months ago, but some people ended up with suspicion and ridicule. However, the new version was eventually released. Good Luck.

starash Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Perhaps VPNs are not explicitly prohibited and sanctioned by law in most countries, but there is no denying that cross-country VPNs are spoofing the IP nationality of Internet users. In many online gaming user agreements there should be some sort of penalty for forging a user's nationality. The only thing that determines whether or not you can legally play is the agreement itself, and since the game has pragmatically blocked your access, you should take the risk of being sanctioned. As the saying goes, you should be more humble when you're in a bad situation, after all, you've accepted the agreement in advance and need to avoid making things worse. For example, the Chinese language users who do not even use a translator was behaving in such an out-of-place manner that it is difficult to see if they have any respect for others. Finally, if you are concerned about whether KT is not going to allow you to use XVV in your area, just check the agreement and take the risks to avoid future nonsense or to secure grounds for appeal. I'm sure that even those players who have managed to persevere in such a difficult situation have the necessary awareness.

knight77 Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 I know that Japan and China have bad history and that they really dont like each other. But if you wanna have world wide consumers, you cant block the rest of the world. Just saying.
himawari56 Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 It seems that some people are saying that VPNs will slow down the game, but VPNs are only used to log in to games, and the VPN can be disconnected as soon as the game starts. It's not that they don't want to make money from foreign players. Japanese games will restrict IP because of legal issues. Many adult games in Japan (at least DOAXVV is definitely something that SJW does not like) are limited to Japan when they are released. This way, you can have a good one when overseas SJWs protest. The reason can be explained to them. If they don't do IP restrictions there isn't a good reason to tell SJWs. Because they know that most players will still continue their favorite games through VPN. Publishers just have to tell SJWs that VPNs are unstoppable. We have done enough. It is the overseas players themselves who are playing the game by improper means. (I use google translate)
