Modder looking for new ideas and direction...

Hey guys. So I've made a few mods, specifically a couple for Oblivion and one for Skyrim. So far they were all pretty simple and related to another game/series I enjoy called Dofus/Wakfu.

Now that I've whet my appetite for modding, what else should I jump on? It's been a while since I made those, so I don't know what the currently popular body replacers or skeletons or armor sets are, so I'm not even sure where to start to making something more interesting to a mass audience. Basically, I'm asking the following:

-What would people like to see?

-What standards are already in place (Body replacers, skeleton replacers, animations, scripts, etc.)

-What specifically should I make? Quests? Armors? Weapons? Something else entirely?

Sorry for starting a whole new thread for this but I'm not quite sure what to do now. I'd like to do something people would like to play with, and I think asking my audience for suggestions would be the best way to find out.

Thanks for your time!

I cant tell you about others but for me thats what I'd like to see.

Quests, quests and quests again because no matter how much customization in Skyrim is fun, it is also good to follow a great story once in a while and I think it desserves more.

Armors / weapons are always welcome but thats not something the game lacks actually.

For the body replacers the most widely used are CBBE http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2666//? and UNP http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6709//?, not that I dont like others like ADEC but if you plan to touch a larger audience thats probably where you will want to go, there is also Sevenbase that is hopefully growing fast and might attract more people in the near future http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36992//?.

For animations it is quite tricky if I got that well because you cant really make animations from scratch but you have to use existing behaviors, I am not an animator and Arrok or even Fore could answer your questions better.

There are two main skeleton replacers available, XPMS http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26800//? and Skulltyrant http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16712//?, cant really say which one is better but I personally use XPMS.

One last thing is : you should really go where you want to go in matter of taste, for example even if youd better make armors for a less known body mod just go for it because you will always make people happy :)

Hope that helped and looking forward to your next mod :)

I should have mentioned, I'm looking more to mod for oblivion right now. Skyrim's importing of custom meshes is still really clunky and not that fun to work with so I'd rather do something for Oblivion. If someone has any tips for making stuff for skyrim easier, I'd love to hear it. Until then, I'll probably stick to Oblivion.

Thanks for the tips, though! I'll look into all this.

As for making a public bath, I'm surprised that hasn't been done yet? Though, it doesn't exactly interest me too much. Maybe I'll look into it though.

How about some animations to fill the gaps in the modding world for Oblivion?

For example, there are no kissing animations that convince for real. A kissing animation that plays based on dialogue and character disposition would be awesome

More animations that could feel the gaps could be for example a realistic vampire biting system, that works not only when target is sleeping, but you can also use a friendly bite on a willing character or a hostile bite on an unwilling one. I say this because I have my personal custom vampire race, made from things I like from other existing vampire custom races (mine is more realistic and doesnt sun burn, but has higher acrobatics and speed, short length speed increasing spells, perception spells, and in short it behaves in a more realistic way, instead of a myth based undead) , but none of them needs blood, so they look like vampires, but are not really vampires. Vampirism should not be a sickness, it should be something carried in blood like lineage. Specially when talking about a "custom race"

Ive had many ideas but these two have been there for a long time...
