Slow saving time

Hi again,

I am suddenly having very slow saving times. Before today, saving usually took 2-5 seconds. Strangely today, saving took 30-40 seconds. This also affected all my autosaving whenever I fast travel, enter/exit buildings, etc. You can hear the npcs inside already talking, but the black screen "after" the loading screen stays for the 30-40 seconds, due to the autosave. I have turned off autosaving, which helps loading in. But the problem is still there for the normal saving and quicksaving.

I have read that turning off my antialiasing would help. It did for 1 session. But the save lagging returned afterwards, so I don't believe the AA was the source of the problem. I have then cleaned my save file (normally 7.6kb, still 7.6kb with 9 instances removed). I have not changed or added anything else since. Any assistance or ideas to fix?

It might be that your SKSE cosave file is bloating.

Writing this file takes a lot of time, even when it is compartively small.

NIO cleaner might help.

Thank you.

What/Where is the SKSE co-save? Not the regular save files, right?

Check nexus for NetImmerse Override Cleaner SE

But you will lose changes that are saved in the SKSE co-save, like slave tats applied to NPC's etc

For me the game normally slows down on saving as you play longer, on a new game its pretty much instant but on a character played to level 107 with loads of new lands/vanilla stuff done takes say 10-20 sec's

File size also increases quite a lot

New game

Found the cleaner for SE here.

This game save is only 2-3 hours of play. Not very long. Fresh start recently. The save itself is 7.6kb.

Where can I find the skse-cosaves to clean?

My paths are a little messy. Mod organizer is not in the same folder as skyrim. And document folder is on a different drive from mod organizer and skyrim, due to size.

If the SKSE co-save is 7.6 kb then i doubt cleaning will have any effect

The default save location is C:\Users\UserName\Documents\my games\Skyrim Special Edition\Saves

But if you've amended that somehow to stick onto an external HDD maybe that's the cause of your issue as doing that will be much slower than writing it to a internal SSD

Oh I see. I didn't realize there was a 2nd file for SKSE under the normal file.

And looking at it now. I misspoke. It is 7.3mb for the save, not kb. 751 kb for SKSE

Mmm, perhaps it is the SSD (document) and HDD (with MO and Skyrim) conflict that is slowing it down. But a little too late to switch the document folder over to the HDD. And MO + Skyrim isn't going to fit in SSD.

I'll give the SKSE file a clean anyways.
