Oakwood for version 1.5.97?

Hi all,

I spent the past couple of days following the STEP guide, then booted up the game - only to find out that the latest (and only available) version of Arthmoor's Oakwood mod is only compatible with Anniversary Edition. Since both STEP and some works on this wonderful site assume SSE 1.5.97, I'd like to stick with that for my next playthrough. Is there anyone who happens to have an older version of Oakwood? Many thanks in advance

You could try creating empty dummy plugin files for the CC plugins the new AE Oakwood is set to depend on (the fishing mod and whatnot).
That would allow you to load the Oakwood into xEdit, where you could remove the CC plugins from Oakwood's header where they are referenced as a required master files.
This will of course produce some errors, so you use the "Search for erros" function of xEdit to list all errors in Oakwood plugin, and then you check them one by one and fix them.
This way you can make a personal modification of the new Oakwood plugin.

BUT depending on how much stuff from the CC plugins is the new Oakwood using, it may be quite the chore to fix all the errors.
And then you can only hope that none of the scripts that come with Oakwood (if any, i didn't check) aren't requiring any of the CC stuff to function - to be sure, you would have to look at the script sources and see for yourself (but something tells me you don't have much experience with scripts).

What i would recommend in your case, is to actually update to the latest SSE version (the one ppl call Anniversary Edition, you don't need to buy the "Anniversary Upgrade", just let Steam to update your SSE).
You will have to check all the mods you plan on using for compatibility, and definitely must get the SKSE64 made for the AE version of SSE (and same for the address library, and any DLL plugins for SKSE), but it shouldn't be too difficult to find the correct versions, and you should be able to find them probably for %99 of your mods (if not for all of them).
Because from what i saw, the STEP guide seem to be using relatively common, casual mods which either work in AE (all simple mods, not requiring any SKSE plugins will work), and when it comes to SKSE plugins i don't think i even saw any there, but if there are any, it will be probably something common that has been updated for AE already.

In the long run, i think it is better for you to upgrade to AE, than to try and bend any AE mods to work in non-AE version of SSE.

Another option is to just ignore Oakwood - i don't think your STEP installation will break if you just leave it out.
