FallFall Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 If I open my FO4 using F4SE, non of the player related subtitles during the time that player has control show up. Doesn't matter if it's a mod dialogue or not. Without F4SE... it works. Any ideas what might be causing this? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Load Order in the attached files because it was LONG! but it doesn't go above the limit cause only 251 are ESP --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fix: F4z Ro D'oh is the problem. Remove it. loadorder.txt
Sgt. Marge Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 I can give you a way to test it, but I've not encountered this before. Also you could post your load order and plugin list in a spoiler tag / text file if this doesn't help. To troubleshoot, I would try the following: - double check that you do have subtitles enabled in the settings in game and if you do, proceed to the next step. - disable all mods, or if running Mod Organizer 2 you can make a new profile (but I seem to recall in a previous post you made that you might be on Vortex and that's fine) - once you have all your mods enabled, just launch the game with the F4SE launcher like you were doing and make a new character / save. - If there is still no subtitles, then we have a very very strange issue. But if you do get subtitles now, then one of the mods is having a problem, go to the next step. - Turn on half your mods, making sure to keep all the pre-requisites enabled for those mods, and test again. Record which mods you enabled with a screen shot - test again - keep enabling half the mods until you get the problem, and then go through the ones you just enabled by half until you narrow down the problem child.

Yes, subtitles are on because only the PC isn't getting them and if it's a mod thing than I think it must be a mod that relies on F4SE cause with all of my mods installed but not using F4SE to play, it works. I'm see if I can throw in my mod order when I have access to it

Sorry it took so long but I uploaded my load order. now I go see what can be causing it on my side.
Samuraitech Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Spoiler Your Load Order Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp ArmorKeywords.esm XDI.esm HUDFramework.esm WorkshopFramework.esm My Load Order Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp ArmorKeywords.esm WorkshopFramework.esm XDI.esm HUDFramework.esm Workshop Framework is above XDI in my load order but I don't think this is the problem. Your load order looks fine where XDI is concerned. Reading up on the Extended Dialogue Interface, XDI, Mod page. Check the following: Game Revision 1.10.50 or greater. Should be 1.10.163 now. F4SE 0.6.0 or greater. Should be 0.6.21 now. XDI should be at revision 1.3.6. Ensure you have MCM installed and at revision 1.2 or greater. Should be 1.39 now. XDI is just a framework that removes the 4 dialogue choice limit. Other mods would use XDI to actually alter conversations. XDI does not alter vanilla dialogue. Ensure the file "Dialogue.swf" in Data\Interface folder is not being overwritten. Mods like Full Dialogue Interface are obviously not compatible. With MO2 you can look inside of the virtual data folder while MO2 is running. Not sure how Vortex would work with file structure. The Dialogue.swf file is in ba2 format in XDI but you can still view it in MO2 since MO2 handles ba2 files. Not an exact answer to the problem but some things to look into.

You have a plugin called "Player Comments Patch" but I don't see PlayerComments.esp (Player Comments and Head Tracking) installed. I'm assuming that patch is for this mod, are you getting any master file error on it? Player Comments could have an impact on subtitles and if you have a patch for a mod you aren't using I could see that potentially interfering with seeing player subtitles.

That's weird... in Vortex, it tells me that it's disabled but it's in the load order file. Removing it didn't fix it thou.

My game version is latest... because steam. F4SE is 0.6.21 XDI is 1.3.6 MCM is 1.39 FDI being there or not doesn't seem to effect things. Interestingly the file you mentioned doesn't exists on my PC. When I lunch the game using F4SE loader no player dialog shows up, modded or not and only player's but normal launcher works fine.

When I lunch the game using F4SE loader no player dialog shows up, modded or not and only player's but normal launcher works fine. I mentioned Extended Dialogue Interface, or XDI because you said you had problems with dialogue's working. Extended Dialogue Interface and another called Full Dialogue Interface are the probably the two most common mods for NPC Dialogue. You can't use both together. Your plugin list that you posted has XDI listed in the load order. The vanilla dialogue will only display 4 choices and choices will be abbreviated or chopped off. With XDI installed and working you will see the full dialogue sentences and can view more than 4 choices if they are there. It does not alter the vanilla dialogue. It does make it possible for other mods to use the XDI framework for better dialogue. Quest mods as an example. If you have Mod Configuration Menu, MCM, then you can modify some of the options. If XDI does not show up in the MCM that could be another clue that something is wrong. Sometimes it is beneficial to also include your mod list when you are having issues, as the MCM does not have a plugin to list. Some mods are just textures or scripts. If the problem persists you may need to disable all mods except maybe for XDI and its requirements to see if you can get it to work. Add the other mods back in a little at a time and test the game at each step until all the mods are active and your game is not crashing or doing weird things. Your goal is to reach a stable load order. Don't add more mods until you get to this point.

The .swf file doesn't exist. and removing FDI doesn't fix anything and XDI can not be removed because it a requirement for one of the other mods

The .swf file doesn't exist. and removing FDI doesn't fix anything and XDI can not be removed because it a requirement for one of the other mods One issue that I see after looking at your plugin list again, you are using Companion Ivy which the mod author states is not compatible with XDI (also Amazing Follower Tweaks is not compatible with Ivy either but I don't see that on your list, just wanted to point it out). I don't know what problems that causes to have XDI & Ivy to be honest, but you may have to choose 1 or the other. My suspicion is that there's problems with Ivy's dialogue trees if you have XDI, but it's been a long time since I read through that support thread; I just know that the author is adamant that those 2 mods shouldn't be used with Ivy. If you have other things that relies on XDI it certainly makes the decision more complicated. Also I'm a bit confused now because I read to word subtitles in your original post, which to me is like in the movies when an actor says words, and those words are then displayed on the screen. And of course the option to display subtitles is in the Fallout settings, so I thought you were saying that when your character talks, those words don't show up but when another actor talks, their words do show up. But are you actually having a problem with the quest dialogue trees when interacting with an NPC and not the dialogue subtitles?

The dialog trees work just fine even for ivy. Just my characters subtitles don't show up when I run using F4SE. The options are on in the game both for dialouge and for general sounds. I have no idea why my character's doesn't show up. I nuked my game and did a clean reinstall, verify than reapplied the mods but it remains.
