peppefarina Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Hey everyone there is a way to have access to a kind of showracemenu for the NPCs? My difficulty is i can't get the famous NPC Editor running (dunno why, it has problems with win8) and i need to use the CK without the texture folder for the facegendata bug (when you get the NPC forehead colored like the makeup)... so... i'm stuck. I can only change the player, effectively, this way. And i don't need to. If there was a way to change the traits of NPC with the ease of showracemenu, would be great. Ciao Peppe
Owrom Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Hey everyone there is a way to have access to a kind of showracemenu for the NPCs? My difficulty is i can't get the famous NPC Editor running (dunno why, it has problems with win8) and i need to use the CK without the texture folder for the facegendata bug (when you get the NPC forehead colored like the makeup)... so... hi there, sorry i can't help you yet, but i'm very interresting in this by myself. which mod do you mean while mention "famos NPC editor"?
peppefarina Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Well I think its not so famous afterall... NPC Editor by foretrenty: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4554/? but as I said for me its any good. I've found kind of a workaround but its non entirely working... i change the appearance of my player then use the SPF command: http://www.creationkit.com/SavePCFace and then load the .npc file but its not working all the time... there must be a more functional way to do this...
Owrom Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 half the nexus servers are down to me. slow dl do you have the enviroment which is needed installed for your win8? on the description page its linked .Net Framework 4.0: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17718XNA 4.0 Refresh: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27599 it's not installed by win8 by default, it might be missing in your case
peppefarina Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 I'm pretty sure i checked it the first time i tried it, Owrom... but I'll give it another try and see, double-checking everything, maybe it works... it works for you?
Liquidpinky Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 You could maybe try this mod and then using showracemenu command. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36047/? I have trouble trying to jump from male to female, maybe due to skeleton mix ups and body mods but jumping from female to female and male to male works okay.
peppefarina Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Yep i've heard of it, might give it a try... but, as always, its kinda of a "workaround"... nonetheless is a good idea, impersonate a character, change their appearance and then get back to yours... but after i will suffer from identity crisis =D
Owrom Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 meanwhile i heard about "creation kit" on nexus are plug-ins for it, but i have no direct link yet. only thing on NPC editor which ain't work for me is weight adjusting, anything else works. NPC editor is stuck in development, the author ain't show up a long time. that's sad because it's quite nice.
peppefarina Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 i heard about "creation kit" on nexus are plug-ins for it plug-ins for the ck? really? this comes new to me. how they work?
Owrom Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 as i don't know anything about CK yet, i can only say there are plugins for difrent usages/occasions. i was told creation kit can do stuff. but i can do everything, NPC editor is more suitable for this job for me. i don't want to browse enviroment and anything else in houre to find the NPC's and only edit them via a dry UI surface and codes.
peppefarina Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 and only edit them via a dry UI surface and codes. that's exactly why i started this thread... but i think "elegant" solutions are lacking...
NBIemand Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I do think the alternate actors mod is the fastest and easiest way to do it right now, that mod works really well, just cast a spell on someone and your camera switches to them. not entirely sure if the showracemenu works with it tho. If the actor doesn't change ID and showracemenu only works for ID 000014(or whatever the player ID is), then that would mean it would just edit your own character instead. I'll do some testing to see if it works
peppefarina Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 I'll do some testing to see if it works Thanks bro, let us know if you get something out of it
NBIemand Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Hmm for some reason, the mod just gave me a gray screen, probably has something to do with new mods I installed, as it was most definitely working earlier.
Guest Jenova23 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 You can use alternate actors but if its a custom npc it will look different.
peppefarina Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 You can use alternate actors but if its a custom npc it will look different. How "different"? It will not have the presets i "transferred" on it?
Monsto Brukes Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hmm for some reason, the mod just gave me a gray screen, probably has something to do with new mods I installed, as it was most definitely working earlier. You have to press "draw weapon". . . if you watch closely, or if you have enb installed you can really see it clearly, there's a visible camera spin that's very much like entering showracemenu. After that point, hit "draw" and it should pop. Even then, the data for the npc that you change is I BELIEVE in the savegame. IOW the "permanent change" is only for that game.
NBIemand Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I tested it again, and after changing back to the original player the npc just changes back to their original looks, sadly.
peppefarina Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 Even then, the data for the npc that you change is I BELIEVE in the savegame. IOW the "permanent change" is only for that game. Well if there is a way to get the result, even only on one savegame, would be nice enough for me. I tested it again, and after changing back to the original player the npc just changes back to their original looks, sadly. Man, that's bad news... no progress on this road. Other suggestions?.
lordofthedread Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 How about Racemenu possibility to duplicate faces? Is it working only one way (from NPC to player) or both ways?
NBIemand Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hmm I think that is a feature of a newer version of RaceMenu. I don't believe I have that installed yet, so I can't test it for you...D:

Hmm I think that is a feature of a newer version of RaceMenu. Oh my, you made me notice i have racemenu 1.5.1... since 1.5.4 its out i'll give it a try. Let's see. *edit: you were referring to the Mimic plug-in?
