First, the usual:


 


I build my mods to suit my own personal tastes, same as any other modder. When you see screenshots I post of WIP (work in progress) projects, bear in mind that this is EXACTLY what they are. WIPs. The characters you see may (and likely won't) look exactly as your own character may look after you exit character creation. So keep your "extra" commentary to yourself. Constructive criticism is fine (and it helps me to improve things when and where it's necessary) If you have trouble understanding this very simple and basic practice of civil and polite community etiquette, allow me to refer you here for a refresher course on avoiding pissing off any modders here:

And now onto what you came here for  ;) 


 


A lot has changed since I began creating race mods for Skyrim. Some changes were good, and even more were immensely problematic.


More than once I'd considered leaving Skyrim modding for good. But I don't give up that easily.....


 


All of my mods are currently being completely rebuilt under a new Asset Database called TCRA, which I created to keep the assets I use most safely locked away from Bethesda's updates and patches, and eliminating most of the need to update my mods as Bethesda makes changes to the game. I know Bethesda has announced that they are *finished* with Skyrim. However, they also stated in that same announcement that they would continue patching and updating the game as necessary from time to time. As any modder can tell you, there isn't much we fear more as modders than a statement such as that.


 


TCRA is designed to circumvent any changes made to the game through Skyrim's Update.esm file, which is where Bethesda makes most changes to the game. TCRA is also a framework of pre-built race and companion assets, which anyone can freely use to build new races or companions. It can also assign various body types to those races and companions, as well as to the vanilla Skyrim races, to either the entire race, or on an NPC to NPC basis regardless of race. Finally:


 


TCRA is a REQUIRED file for using any of my race mods.

Read everything carefully, and install the version which best suits your Skyrim configuration

Loosely based on the creatures of Greek mythology.


 


A little history:


 


Around 6 months ago or so, LL user and veteran modder, b3lisario, released his conversion


of the Hooves mod for UNPB in his armor conversion thread (he's released many fantastic


conversions since, which you can find in his thread here). The release of the hooves mod set


me on a path to create Skyrim's first playable hoofed race. However, this path was not without


significant hurdles. First to overcome was getting this model to actually appear in the Creation Kit


as an actual playable body. After multiple sessions with NifSkope, separating the hooves, re-scaling


specific nodes, and generally failing on all fronts to make this work as a multi-part body model, I


had all but given up when I decided to simply make the best of what I had to work with.


 


It was then that I decided to simply hang the armor on a separate body model. I had my


doubts that this would even work, but it did. So I plugged on in NifSkope getting things


working and fitting as best I could. Surprisingly, I arrived at what you see pictured above.


The set you see pictured is ALL there is. At least until other modders choose to make 


additional armors they can wear. Conventional armor causes the hooves to disappear,


and boots are completely out of the question.


 


So I made the complete set available in cloth, light, and heavy versions, 


complete with recipes and tempers for upgrading. Crafting the initial set 


requires no special skills or even any materials. They are completely free


to craft at any forge. Upgrading the light and heavy however takes a


reasonable amount of skill, and a few hard to come by materials.


 


With that I moved on:


 


I had a lot to learn and understand, so what followed was a lot of reading.


I needed background to base statistics, abilities, and spells upon. However,


what I found was a LOT of conflicting opinion, but with at least some sense of


continuity among them. So essentially, I decided to round everything off to fit  


into the Elder Scrolls story. Here's what I ended up with:


 


The White Faun


 


Among the purest of nature's creations, these creatures present themselves


with an aura of extreme calm within nature itself. Delicate, beautiful, and calm,


they walk among most of the forest's creatures as kin.


 


Nature itself however, has taken notice of their frail existence, and


seen fit to grant them the ability to defend themselves with some of it's


most powerful elements, as well as substantial healing abilities. Commanding the


destructive forces of wind, rain,and lightning with enough force to disintegrate


mortal beings near instantly in a single spell cast.


 


Knowing that such power could be wielded against mortal men, nature has


restricted the use of their weather ability to outdoor areas only.

I adjusted their statistics to fit their persona as well. With a 10% reduction 


in health, 50% more magicka, this race plays very smoothly at Adept difficulty


and above. Adjusting the difficulty level as you develop the character works really well.


Master and Legendary modes are quite challenging, and often times


even downright aggravating if entered too soon. Not so much because of skill issues,


but due to another facet of their being which i felt fit too well into their persona


and background to leave out:


 


At first load you are automatically added to the hunter prey faction.


 


Meaning Skyrim's hunters WILL actively pursue you once spotted, and WILL


kill you if given the chance. You are, after all, the subject of their most


revered childhood fables. And bagging your head would give their status


among other hunters unmatched reverence.


 


You can however, find solace among Skyrim's creatures, most of


which will aide you if you happen to be close enough for them to aggro


the hunter. Hunter canine companions will NOT attack you, but they will


make the hunter aware of your location should you be spotted and then


hide, by continually barking at you until the hunter comes to see what


the dog's fuss is about.


 


Don't burden yourself with too much garbage loot either. Their base


carry weight has been reduced to 75. And running may just be 


something you need to do at any given moment in the wilderness  ;)

Additional info:


 


I packed this race into a BSA to inhibit tampering. Mostly due to the highly


specialized nature of the mod, and it's numerous special assets. First,


I HIGHLY suggest NOT tampering with the skeleton.The skeleton used


by the race has been highly modified to work specifically for this race alone.


The calf, foot, and toe nodes have all been scaled to adjust the size of


the lower legs to a more visually appealing scale. This in turn, required


an elevation adjustment to bring their hooves to the ground level.


I used one of XP32's skeletons to base everything on, so there


shouldn't be any real need to replace it with something else.


 


For those of you wondering about weapons placement:

Everything you see pictured here is included in the mod, and


works very well for the race across every difficulty level.


 


I also suggest not altering the ESM, as I have future plans to update,


adding additional armors as I locate them, acquire permissions, and


fit them to the body as time permits. These updates will be on separate


ESPs with the Faun.esm as a requirement.


 


I find this race to be very enjoyable and challenging to play.

Not only on the hooves mod, but all of the incredible armors he 


shares with the LL community. Without his hooves conversion, I 


would never have even considered a race such as this.

So I got the urge to mess around on Spriggan turf, and this is the result.

I highly advise reading it, because it contains TONS of details about the race.


 


This race uses a new variation of the PartyGirl body I made for Moonshadow Elves, with 


quite a bit of alteration to the breast area. At 100 weight, it looks exactly as


pictured above. The BodySlide preset is packed in the file with the mod.

Update! (Only applies to the Spriggan Queen race) If starting a new game of


a different race, DO NOT select the Spriggan race in the racemenu. If you do, it will start


the script which adds the Spriggan Queen's bug swarm visual effect to your non-Spriggan


Queen character. You've been warned......  :P

For the first time in nearly a year, I'm pleased to present this race once more,


in all of it's fully reconstructed glory:

I hadn't planned on releasing this until tomorrow, but with little more than a few changes


to the original ESP left to make, I decided to push forward and get it done tonight.


As originally released, this mod was available in both CBBE and UNPB versions.


Last time I rebuilt it, I precluded the UNPB version, because it was simply far too


much work to rebuild what was essentially two separate mods. But with the creation


of the TCRA asset database, rebuilding it for both body types again was a snap.


 


The race ability, Moonshadow Blossom, still works the same as before via


a potion that gives the permanent choice of whether to include the visual effects


(the Moonshadow Veil transparency from 8pm to 5am game time), by


drinking your choice of one of two potions found in nearly every inn in Skyrim:

You only need one or the other. These files are a bit larger


because they include it's new head mesh, as well as the custom tattoo


textures which are not stored within TCRA:

It's also used by the Chocolate Elves race below. I'm


including it here, because I mistakenly packed the wrong

I'm sure all the Oblivion players here will fondly remember this race:

Playing with this race in Oblivion remains some of my fondest


memories. They were quite unique, erotic, and simply


oozed sex appeal at every angle.


 


Well, I wanted something reminiscent of this race, but not so exacting that I couldn't add my


own personal touches. So into the CK I went. I spent a significant amount of time giving them


most of their original qualities for Skyrim. First, I deviated substantially from my usual *humanistic*


elven style, and went with a more  *true to Skyrim* form for them, retaining "most" of the 


vanilla Skyrim elven style. And here's what I was able to accomplish:

I opted for CBBE/TBBP BodySlide meshes to give them some decent curves, and


a suitable posterior befitting of most of the player character screens I've seen:

The breasts I didn't spend a lot of time with, nor did I make them


immensely huge. Nice, but not gargantuan, with a modest natural


shape, with plenty of gravity slider added:

Notice that the ears are significantly longer than a typical vanilla Skyrim elf.....

The pushup effect was added to the armor, rather than too deep into the


body itself in BodySlide. You'll find the BodySlide Preset packaged


next to the Data Folder. Just drop it in your BodySlide presets folder,


and you're ready to make every custom BodySlide armor available,


as well as vanilla replacers:

I went with a modified Dark Elf Flame Cloak type ability for them,


which I adequately named *Passionate Blaze*

It's a flame cloak ability that does 24dps to everything nearby.


So I'd advise against using it near friendly/neutral NPCs LOL


It lasts for 1 minute and can be immediately cast again via voice power.


Definitely a Master or Legendary difficulty ability, and


certainly waaaay OP at lower difficulty settings


 


Their racial is a 50% resistance to disease and poison. Making it


quite a bit harder for creatures to poison you, and for vampires to infect


you with Sanguinaire Vampiris


 


I didn't want to make them totally immune, so those who like to


play vampires will need to work a bit harder at becoming one   :P

It's quite small, because the race assets are entirely stored within TCRA


The file only contains the race controller scripts, ESM, and the BodySlide Preset 


to make them some armors  :)


 


I placed this above both Valkyrie and Kerran Sha'rr in my load


order without issue. As long as any of my races are beneath


TCRA.esm, the order of the race ESMs shouldn't make any difference


 


I hope you enjoy them as much as you did their Oblivion ancestors.

Tried the Valkyrie, wings look damn sweet. Would like to be able to set my own meshes to your races, however (I use UNPB) and I'm guessing I'll be able to once you release the readme for how to dink around with TCRA... Sigh, I hoped I'd never have to use the CK for anything, ever (spare converting greater powers to lesser and such   :P ), but it looks like I'll have to, unless I can unpack the specific race folders...

Strange thing I just noticed. I'm not sure if this is something I did or not,but the back wings aren't showing up on my Valkyrie no matter how naked I make her. Did I do something wrong or is there something I was supposed to do?

You could unpack the BSA, but I wouldn't recommend it. Create these five folders:

 

Data\meshes\actors\character\TCRA\body(CBBEXTC) - place the femalebody and femalefeet nifs here

Data\meshes\actors\character\TCRA\body(CBBE) - place the femalehands nifs here

Data\textures\actors\character\TCRA\female\body(CBBE) - place your full texture set here, except the .msn and .s textures

Data\textures\actors\character\TCRA\female\body(CBBE)musclemap\ - place your .msn texture here

Data\textures\actors\character\TCRA\female\body(CBBE)sweat\ - place your .s textures here

 

It can get very confusing for a novice or beginning modder

 

Be warned though, the wings may or may not display in a visually appealing manner on other bodies.

 

If this doesn't work out, I'd recommend re-installing the race, and waiting for the readme. If you're looking to use a body type included in TCRA (such as UNP/B or ADEC), then wait for the additional ESMs I plan to make using those body meshes instead  ;)

 

The readme option is probably your best bet. It will detail in full the entirety of TCRA's folder structure, making body swaps effortless  :)

I like coming up with stories for my characters and this gives me some great ideas for it.

Nah, I'm using the RaceMenu and ECE together and it works for me :)

Nah, I'm using the RaceMenu and ECE together and it works for me :)

 

So then maybe it is just me. Oh well. It's still a boss race. Looks like Lenneth is gonna be looking to get her wings back from the Divines that kicked her out of heaven. Lenneth, the Fallen Valkyrie... I like it.

Check for anything occupying the tail slot, as that's the slot the wings occupy.

 

Is this a new character, or a race swapped existing character? Race swaps tend to be problematic, because many times all of the necessary data doesn't get applied during the change. Such as body parts, and most commonly, the head mesh.

I make brand new characters every time I get a new race. I don't bother with race swaps on my saves. None of my mods auto equip anything to the tail slot.

Can you list what mods you're using?

 

Either something is hiding the slot, or the skeleton you're using is causing the wings to not display. If they weren't definitely there, your game would CTD as soon as you load the game.

 

You could try this:

 

drag your current skeleton_female.nif out somewhere for safe keeping. Drag your skeletonbeast_female.nif to the desktop and rename it to skeleton_female.nif and drag it back into the character assets female folder and try it.

 

I'm especially interested in resolving this issue, as I'd like to be aware of any incompatible mods, so I can offer a fix if possible.....

In the process of testing the skelton file thing you suggested. In the mean time, I copied the load order from the NMM mod manager thing. I manually installed TCRA and Valkyrie, I just use it to keep my mods ordered.

That's from just now during character creation, where I assume they are first visible, after exchanging the skeleton files. 

 

EDIT: I'm now testing with your skeleton. Will post results asap.

Hmm..... try the skeleton I posted above. Other than that, it can only be one of the mods you're using blocking the slot.

 

It's your call, but you could try deactivating mods one by one until they show up.
