[Help] Port an Armor and make them work with Skyrim

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello everyone, I been trying to port a new armor to the game by starting with the boots, so i can understand how to mod and add more stuff later on. Unfortunately i can't seem to make them work, cause when i equip the boots the character appears barefooted. Still, I managed to make them appear in the game as a menu item and as a drop-able. I would like to port the Assault Armor for the Cerinian race made by ThatDefaultUser12:

I been reading a lot of tutorials of how to add armor to the game, but i guess I'm still not that competent to pull this off. So this is what i did even tough it didn't fully work. From 3ds max i exported the boots .obj to blender and aligned them with the feet, then port the .obj from blender to outfit studio and add the bone weights from another armor and converted the .pngs to .dds textures and added them with outfit studio and created the .NIF of the boots then modified the cerinian.esp to add them. I think the .nif looks good but I'm still missing something.

Also, is there a guide of how to rig armor in blender that isn't from Skyrim? So i can align the armor with the body?

Boots done they don't look as good as the original but they worked. Also I used the thick body for them so they would only look good with that body. Still... learning i guess.

Hey bro, I'm also a fan of the Cerinian race. How's it going with the armor?

Well... I stopped from finishing this because I'm learning blender to do more mods but... give me a weekend. I'll finish it if i can this saturday/sunday.

Oh yeah, I'm gonna use another boots base on warframachine krystal model https://www.deviantart.com/warfaremachine/art/Krystal-Fox-2020-on-Way-854415201

Sweet, I hope you can pull it off.

By the way, to fix some of the clipping issues you can delete some parts of the body under the armor using Outfit Studio, like this:

New Assault Armor, has a little bit of clipping in game (kinda weird cause in outfit studio looks good). Now with bodyslide files so you can "slide" with the body you use.
This Suit comes with new Boots. Gloves will be added in a few days (didn't knew that skyrim hands are that big).

I would like to remove some body parts but, Does it affect the bodyslide if the armor has the body in it?

No. Each mesh is controlled separately.

I would recommend you bring the Outfit in closer to the body first, so the Sliders attach to outfit properly. You want it to be as skin-tight as possible.

It's best to add a custom body to the project as your last step.

  1. Import it
  2. Conform it
  3. Delete original 3BA mesh from the project       (you can leave Vagina and Anus mesh but in this case it's not going to be visible anyways.)
  4. Rename the custom body to "3BA"
  5. Right-Click and select "Set Reference"

This custom body should work for this outfit

add me last.nif

Good luck,

Good luck,

I just saw your nif with NifSkope and seeing what you did i could just port the suit in blender and delete the body parts that i dont need and just leave the visible ones. That way they would be no more clipping. I did that with a Fallout 4 mod and it look good but i thought because the Skyrim armor always have like the body in every armor for the bodyslide i thought i couldnt do that. Also i could leave some body parts that dont cause issues like the breast and the genital part if someone wants to zap the armor. Thanks Demonwolf218

But before i port the .nif to Blender and remove the body parts im gonna re-bodyslided a little bit more to follow your suggestion.

Heyo, i tried making Bodyslide of Armor but nothing changes in game, any solution?

You can do 1 of 2 things:
Either open the osp files with notepad and replace the output path and file name like this

        <OutputPath>meshes\1custom\cerinian race\Assault Armor</OutputPath>
        <OutputFile GenWeights="true">Boots</OutputFile>

and "suit" instead of boots for the suit.

Or wait for the mod author to upload a newer version of the mod where the above fix is applied.
