theskid Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I had downloaded the most recent version of blender and nifskope but I can't figure out how import nif files. Consider me a complete nooblet of the highest order. I did some searching and found these instructions, but I'm going to get some sleep now. Could someone confirm that I should be follwoing this instead? http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Installation_of_Blender
gregathit Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Uninstall the most recent version of blender as it won't work right with the nifscripts. Instead install this one: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/42755/? Everything you need is bundled into this version of blender. You will still need to install Nifskope but that is a different story. As for how to work with blender, well I suggest you start right here: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/10838-guide-blender-nifskope/ Once you have a handle on that then you can try your hand at the clothing\armor lattice maker: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/10396-clothing-bodytype-converter-v42b/
theskid Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Thanks very much, I've got it now and will blunder around more when I get home from work. I'll try to keep questions to a minimum and read stuff as I go. I don't think I'll make much of my own stuff as I would never consider myself any kind of artist ( I can paint a half decent warhammer figure, but that's a lot of staying between the lines type thing;) , mostly just want to get things to fit the body type of my choice. I'm TGND in Oblivion and Type N in fallout now and they don't have the love type 3 and hgec "breasts bigger than your mama" cup sizes get. Figure I'd learn myself how to do things instead of whining about it.
gregathit Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 CK has gathered together a ton of tutorials for both blender and nifskope if you get stuck: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/17279-so-you-want-to-make-animations-the-pose-animation-blender-and-nifskope-tutorial-compendium/
NepoznatiNN Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 If you are beginner like me (and you are if you do not know how to import nif files) you should go with 3D Studio Max - Student version (non profit) is free and is much easier to learn than Blender . Later you can learn Blender too and combine best of booth programs . Nightasy from Nexusmods have made few good video tutorials (step by step , for beginners) : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19249/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D19249%26preview%3D&pUp=1 http://www.youtube.com/user/NightasyTutorials?feature=watch Watch 1st few of movies before decide . His tutorial is for Skyrim but there are not many differences , and for some of them i did found solution (and uploaded few beginner stuf that i made) : http://www.loverslab.com/topic/17716-need-help-with-textures-nifskope-game/ Cheers
theskid Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Oh I'm definitely a beginner, gives me something to do while waiting for sexout to get stable again. I will definitely check out 3ds max, I didn't know it had a free option. Blender is kicking my ass, but need to keep the mind busy anyways.
