saves crashing after reaching a certain level

Got an issue with my saves becoming unstable once I reach a certain level in-game. This issue took some time to figure out why my saves were making me CTD so I did a number of experiments and it all came down to me levelling up from my current level. My playthroughs are quite cheaty so levelling up is quicker than normal, but this is the first time I've had a issue with my levels, my current character is at lvl 143 but when I got to the perk system and use one of the level up options (magicka, health, stamina) it is all fine and I can continue playing the game as normal, BUT when I save after I reach 144, i'm unable to continue where I was due to the save just CTD.

 

I don't know if there is a value limit that is reached at lvl 143 and at lvl 144 it goes over the limit or goes negative which could be the reason its crashing, i've been a higher level then that since I've had many playthroughs in the past. Just confused why just now i'm unable to play the game from lvl 144.

 

I haven't sent a mod list since I haven't added any new mods in a long time and have played many more playthroughs before then. This is the first time this problem has showed up. Would getting a save editor that has a level setting and lowering it and see if there is a mod to limit the levels on how high u can fix this issue?

I have read in various places that level 252 is the point where you have all non modded perks unlocked, and suposedly if level 256 is surpassed it can make the game unstable.

It used to be the restoration potion loop but which was patched  iirc, however you can still put fortify alchemy on every slot if you have a mod that lets you put any enchant on any item and loop that and get insane stats, pretty sure you can get too far until your numbers become an integer, and then you crash.  but I don't think it corrupts the save.

 

edit: ther's also the thing with "uncapper" where you can break stuff if you let skill up too high

I use the uncapper dll myself. You must install the bugfix if using latest skse with trampoline (2.019)

So those Enchanter gloves (MasterEnchanter.esp) give you 276 enchanting?  Do you use them alot, like, is your gear super crazy enchanted?  Not saying that's what is causing your issue but be real careful with that, good way to make crashes.  Check the answer selected to this question here.

I don't think i've ever used them since one of the mods on there is adding 10 enchantments to any item that can be enchanted, I think I got that at the time when I was in a phase of wanting to just have fun in the game and not worry about dying.

for normal people yes its quite op, at the beginning of my playthrough i set my enchanting at 1000 due to some mods making playthroughs more difficult. But as I level up say past 100, even those enchantments start to become spongy against enemies so I usually raise it a bit more to 1500 which is currently my enchantment level of that save, i've only raised it unreal high for carry weight and the other issue I have with rechargeable weapons but other then that I set it to a level which I feel comfortable with, not too OP with the difficulty and the level of the enemies but still takes quite a few hits to kill them.

hmm I think i've fixed it, I had a mod called TKAA wild child which adds a bunch of as u guess children to the game and unfortunately its for SSE which I don't have but somehow it worked kind of, the game wasn't crashing when I came across one of the children from the mod, but they had a blue face so thanks to the mod that gives extra info when opening the console, I knew it was that mod, so I disabled it, went back on the game, levelled myself to 144 again and then saved. I loaded it back up and didn't have any crash so possibly me having this dwarven machine child was crashing my game upon loading yet it didn't crash when I was level 143 only when i levelled myself to 144.

 

That's what I've noticed so far so maybe i've fixed it or maybe i'm just being lucky right now.
