>.> are the nexus servers run on a potatoe?

Relying on the Nexus for reliable mod downloads is like entering a darts tournament and competing while wearing a blindfold.

Ok, this editorial done got way too long - so I put it in a spoiler. TL;DR.

The Nexus servers are hit and miss. One minute I can download a batch of mods; an hour later I am waiting.... and waiting... and  waiting... Days go by where the site is barely accessable. Days go by where the site works perfectly well. I do not pay them anything - so tough booby for me - but constantly "upgrading" and adding "features" to a cluster that was not even close to be being stable in the first place is, well, idiotic. They are constantly breaking what was never fixed in the first place.

Mods disappear as people are banned or get fed up with the Nexus' vague and randomly enforced policies - or even just quit out of boredom or disgust. DarkOne can use eleventy-hundred words explaining what is and isn't allowed in a blog post, yet there are still huge debates because nobody has a clue about what is and isn't allowed. That is because many (ok, one or two) moderators just bend the rules to fit their own agendas. The Nexus is considered an "Authority Site". Volunteer moderators who are allowed to express and enforce their personal opinions make the Nexus an unreliable "Joke Site". Rules are not reliably enforced. Not even close.

An aside: I just had to turn my computer's volume down so I do not have to listen to yet another ridiculous FEBREEZE commercial. The Nexus's advertising is about as useful as their "Search" function. I honestly believe that the people who run that site are WAY out of their league. In over their heads. Etc.

On second thought, maybe Febreeze IS relevant. OMG! Teh Necksucks is down again! I just shit myself! MOM! Bring the FuBREEEEEZE! HURRY! OMFG! MOM! Better pick up a jug of GAIN and some of those Mr. Clean miracle shit-stain erasors while you are at it...

DarkOne's latest blog post about penises and vaginas is naive, ridiculous, and hypocritical. The sad idiot makes fun of people who dislike this type of content, yet he insults them for not using the Nexus' ridiculous (and barely functional) "TAG" feature. After insulting people who do not want genatalia in their game, he goes on to say that you can't upload images of penises or vaginas.  According to his post, I can create a mod that I will call, hmmm... lemme think... I will call it CUNT. I can post my Cyrodiil-Eating Cunt mod, but if you like it and upload an image - Buh-bye!

Even if you "tag" it.

Ok. I am bored of this. The Nexus is an authority site, yet it is a complete joke where the lunatics are running the asylum. Anyone with vision, focus, and some cash could easily ursurp the Nexus' status. They are lazy and stupid.

Great service - doesn't actually work.

- A lot of perfectly accurate things. -

Perfectly stated, sir! All this is plaguing that site and makes it such a pain to use. Ever since my ban I now just grab the files I need and get the hell out.

D0rk0ne and his cronies can bask in their glory as much as they want. And use their fabulous NMM for themselves.

I like how everyone here is an expert at running a site with literally 10s of millions of users.

Yes yes, I know LL is the refuge for people who like to think they've been "victimized" by Nexus, but seriously, stop acting like its not doing better than almost any other site of its type ever has.

There was a major problem a week or so ago on the Oblivion Nexus, that made it literally impossible to download things for ~24 hours...and you know what? I reported it and moved on with my life.

But coming here to whine about how shitty Nexus is and how ~obviously~ they are just blithering incompetents is dumb.

I haven't been "victimized" at all by the Nexus. I do not actually care at all about the Nexus. It is just fun to write about it. There IS a major problem with the Nexus and it did not end with you reporting the problem (that statement made me laugh out loud! Thanks for getting it all fixed up for us!)

I just sat through an effing LYSOL commercial! Someone over there is incompetant. Or maybe they are enlightened. The Lysol commercial came on while I was perusing your latest mod.

"Coincidence? I don't think so." (Glarthir)

I feel quite victimzed. Insta-banned for one single image (on their servers for three months, hundreds of views yet nobody was offended).

Slandered as a "pedophile" and "child pornographer".

My best friend got banned as well - for nothing but publicly expressing his sadness that I got banned and was not around anymore. To a friendly neighbourhood moderator it was "questioning a moderator's decision". Another insta-ban. More victimizing.

From what little I've observed, it would seem moderators spend the majority of the time moderating chat. It is also evident in the forum rules and strike forum section. I can't say much time is devoted to other sections of the site, but I can assume that more it was probably reported. Whether the picture offends someone or not doesn't matter (although I doubt it since people can be offend by anything -- female characters, enbs, etc.) I'm personally offended by any ENB picture that add black bars. How dare you pay x amount for x inch monitor only to have part of it cut out by default? Seriously, Dafaq!? See my point? Anyways, I digress. If the picture goes against the rules, then it's gone.

I don't how someone asking why someone was banned has ever resulted in anything positive. Has not the very same thing happen on this forum once or twice? Did those threads immediately end when the topic posters were given the answer? All I remember from those threads is bickering (don't remember if it was two sides ---unfairly banned vs. justice--- or what), so much so that the whole thread deserved nothing more than a face palm for anything reading the whole thing. Hey, maybe it's just me. Maybe I forgotten to much.

Cobra makes a good point there. if you tried to bitch about it on the Nexus forums the ban happy mods/admin would have a field day with you.

Except not? Assuming you don't descend into personal insults against the staff or something.

The only place you'll basically get instantly banned is in the discussion thread for a mod, and if you can't keep your mouth shut in one of those, don't post in them.

If you have an actual problem with the site, go to the site feedback forum and make a (preferably at least moderately polite) thread about it.

Its very easy to not get banned on Nexus, as long as you don't do stupid shit.

Heh, well I wouldn't go to the nexus without adblock and noscript, and will never use NMM.

I've heard that these people want to someday compete with Steam. I find that hilarious. I doubt they could ever hope to compete with Origin, let alone Steam.

Honestly it makes me wonder if they are even using the money people pay them to be premium members on the site itself. I'd also like to point out that the "theory" of the issues being because it's a weekend has been proven false I've been getting the same issues today (a monday) as I was on the weekend.

You've raised a good point.  Dark0ne is spending the money on holidays, fast cars and paying rogue individuals to perform DDoS attacks on smaller sites.

Since the operator is in Britain, I suppose that local laws apply as far as business operations are concerned. The owner mentioning about him being in Mexico while alternatively talking about server problems... he should EXPLAIN why he went for such a junket or risk getting sued for business malpractices.

Like Kim Dotcom.

I propose a name change: From "The Nexus" to "Content Loading...."

And one more thing: You'd think The Nexus would at least pay for a licensed version of JW Player.

I love the new name, it's been really slow again today.

You've raised a good point about the JW player.  You can pay Extreme Tracking to keep the IP address, browser and operating system hidden.  But Dark0ne refuses to pay this small sum.

Money, Money, Money.  It's sheer greed.  You can expect him to cut corners on everything just so he can make a quick buck.
