REDkit and The Witcher 2 adult modding potential?

Recommended Posts

So has anyone had a go with the REDkit now that it's available to all?

Does it have any potential for adult-related modding? Thinking possibly quest related, not just nude mods (I believe those already exist :P)

I believe that making sex oriented mods for The Witcher 2 should be rather easy.

I mean, you have nude models of the main characters set up, sex scenes ready to be used.  I wonder what could be done with it, and where could it be taken from here.

Personally, I, probably won't download adult mods into it as I don't wont to soil this magnificent game, unless it's a truly awesome add-on.

The only problem I can thiunk of is The Witcher 2 is actually very boring to play a second time in front of an open world like Skyrim, I doubt that modding will change that anytime soon or that it will attract that many modders to start with.

Too bad, the game engine is great tho.

Cant wait for Withcer 3 :)

The rift is one is open world, and one isn't.

Non open worlds generally have better narrative and story but it loses replayability, Witcher 2 is like that for sure, After my 2nd play through I was done..

Open world games have weak narratives but tons of replayability. I still play Skyrim but never for that long and try different things different, but over all, the world feels anemic. TBH I think I put more hours into playing Witcher 2 than playing Skyrim. Note: I have spent TONS of hours modding, and thats what makes skyrim fun now, not the base game.

Question is, will Witcher 3 be open worth with a rich background and a good story? Or will it be Skyrim made in Poland so it isn't restricted with Americas rules on sanitized games. Really Skyrim? That dragon killed everything but the kids are still around.... LAME.

I am positive CDPR will deliver, they haven't disappointed so far and they succeeded in every promise they made. Unlike Todd Howard and his gang of cynical hypocrites who spread lies about their games. He would make an awesome politician.

So when CDPR say they are making an open world, story driven, non linear, RPG game. They WILL deliver.

I really hope they do. Its a gamble, and there's such a thing as quitting while you're ahead. I mean, the odds of them making a second witcher that was just as good if not better than the first was stacked against them, and they still managed to pull it off, though I didn't like some of the directions they took. I really hope they manage to make a good TW3, especially with everything that's happening in the lore.

As for the modding, there can probably be a few things in there like additional quests and such (with a sexual scenario in mind) - does anybody know how complicated the kit actually is to use? Or how intuitive or not? To me, those are always important for potential modders.

Wow, this looks absolutely fantastic:

If this was all achieved with RedKit then I think we're all in for a treat. It apparently already includes a few sexual encounters, though recycling TWII material. Still, I think it showcases the potential for mod developments. Before, I had a feeling I was just going to skip Skyrim, now I'm certain  :D

Yeah I read somewhere about the guy who made Lykaon, he was given a Witcher's sword from CDPR as a reward for the best mod made with the RedKit beta.

Looks great.

Main disadvantage for moding w2 is Geralt himself. Don't get me wrong I like him but I just wish that I could play someone else in this world.

I don't think that will be difficult. In TW, there were modules (expansion mods) where you could play as Dandelion. Given that I think most mods for TW II will follow this formula (ie, not add to the main story/quest itself) but rather focus on Geralt's adventures set elsewhere, changing the character model (and making an accompany quest) should prove relatively easy.

I think this is the beginning of great things for TW II modding.

It is unlikely, when there is w3 almost behind corner I have doubts that anyone will make anything major. It is more likely that moding frenzy will explode after w3 release.

I'm not sure about that, it took ages for them to release RedKit, can you imagine how long it will take to release something for TW III? Plus, it will still be another year and maybe even more before TW III comes out, so there's plenty of time for modders to get their hands dirty.

Maybe, but w3 will use red engine (it ran w2), upgraded but same engine so I don't think that creating moding tools will take as much time as before.

In The Witcher 2 you play more than once as other characters, so making mods which allow to play as others should be a piece of cake.

lol good point, I have totally forgot about that. But was there fighting sequence with being other character? I know that Saskia and Henselt fought but I can't quiet remember if you controlled anyone of them in fight.

I think that I need to play w2 yet another time.

You controlled one of the assassins sent to kill Henselt, and funnily enough, you die at Geralt's hands. All this while doing a necromancy "relive his last memories" spell. So yes, you can control others during combat.

Someone hasn't met Peter Molineux, seriously that guy would win elections every single time. Todd got nothing compared to this guy.

There's also the Iorveth vs Vernon Roache duel (very short) near the end of Flotsam
