Where the collars are more overtly magical in appearance, like this:

I think the Steel Padded Collar from Devious Devices comes closest, but that doesn't have shining magical runes on it.

 

Some mods would benefit from having something like this I think. Off the top of my head SL Survival's magic-damping town collar.

 

Or alternately, if I'm a dum-dum and it has been done in some mod, I'd appreciate a link/name. Thanks :)

Nice, thank you! I mainly play Skyrim as a submissive so I'd completely missed that. :)

So I recently figured out to attach magic rune fx to a piece of equipment and animate them and, well... ?

The results are rather nice. I'll probably use this in Trappings, but I could make a standalone version if there's interest.

Took some more tweaking and I had to ask @layam for permissions to use their collar mesh (which they graciously provided!), but after some delays, here it is!

I'll post it as an actual mod in a bit, when I can be arsed to write a decent description. But you folks get to see it early ;)

Something I noticed when I looked at the mod in xEdit - it's flagged as ESL, but some of the form IDs are outside the range allowed for ESLified plugins. You'll probably want to compact the form IDs before uploading it more publicly.

Ah, right. I saw and fixed that earlier, but then I changed something again and it got messed up again. Thanks for the reminder.

Looks awesome and it seems works pretty good as well. Will there be an option to change color of the rune to violet or any option of color from palette. I am still a newbie and this question might be dumb , still ... will it be usable as a part of devious devices framework utilizing it's functions ? And do I need paradise halls to make this work in current release. Apart from those queries, looking forward to the standalone release and thank you for your amazing work.

I just uploaded this as a mod, here: Runic Collar. The standard color is red, but I changed stuff around a bit so that you can just color swap the textures if you want another color. You should be able to do that with most paint programs i.e. paint.net, GIMP, Krita, etc. as long as they can open .DDS files. Microsoft paint won't work, though. If a lot of people want the same, different color(s) I can make some optional files you can just download.

 

You don't need paradise halls for this mod, Layam graciously gave me permission to use and redistribute the collar model, so it's completely standalone!

 

It's not implemented as a devious device at the moment, but people are free to use the mod to make it so. I myself will be using it in Trappings (my other mod), where it'll have some additional functionality.
