Tinkering Solderbro
Starting with a new computer or newly installed computer, you will have ms onedrive sitting on your documents folder. And yes that's the common used place for savegames. But people testing a lot around will have several gigabytes of savegames in it alone, so ms onedrive will soon start to bully the user with the 5GB limit.  So you may got the idea, to exclude the savegame folders from onedrive, but you may be warned. If you remove them from the config, Windows will delete all the stuff on your computer very rapidly. You have to take an own backup first and restore them after the de-sync. And this is not crap alone, MS sometimes fiddle your docucments path too, without asking you about it. It can be  c:\users\you\onedrive\documents  or  c:\users\your\documents  Never try to uninstall onedrive, this will also trigger an immediate delete of all files that was on sync.?  Today it's replaced with the synology drive client, having my own cloud that backups all the work for the savegames. It's enough with the bad user experience from onedrive.  Zethaneff Link to comment

Backup to external harddrive suits me better. Link to comment
Tinkering Solderbro
Okay here is more detailed what happens. Â Default all folders are linked behind c:\users\you\onedrive\ as long you have onedrive running. If you unlink or uninstall, these folders are wiped and jump to the empty c:\users\your\documents path. This should be kept in mind, microsoft does not care for our data but try to sell storage update from backing up gigabytes of savegames. Â Whoever try to remove onedrice will be sanctioned for that, you have to download all files via browser as .zip to get your data back. Â Link to comment

I did, however, had it once before. And while it was great, i figure i just use a external HDD for backing up my thingies. There is still, even with that setup, a possibility to sync all files. I used to use SyncToy from MS. Works great, but its outdated now. Or just use FreeFileSync which is opensource. General rule is, to have 2 or 3 backups of files on separate devices. So if one fails, you can still fallback to the others. My data is not so important that i need the cloud, i came to realize. So i stopped using the cloud. But then, thats my needs which is not anyone elses needs. Link to comment
myuhinny
I just noticed that my new computer came with onedrive but nothing is on it as everything that I download gets put into a 8 terabyte storage device. I clicked on the onedrive and it tried to get me to set it up but I closed it as I don't need it. Link to comment
Rayblue
If you don't want Onedrive, try to pick up a debloating program such as Ultimate Windows Tweaker. Link to comment
Rokabur
Or you just get the version of Windows 10 that doesn't include garbage like OneDrive and Cortana. Link to comment
