You fast traveled just as a dragon spawned,the game will move it to where you have traveled to.

My experience wasn't a fast travel, but using a city gate while it was actively pursuing me.

 

Happened in Riften. It was on my case, and as like a 4th lv mage, I was nowhere near equipped to handle it, so i ran into town and it just attacked the town. it was crazy.

Happened to me once in whiterun, Killed pretty much all non essential NPCs.

 

I LOL'ed then raged reload.

I don't get what'so so special bout that. I encountered a dragon inside a big city 3 - 4 times in the first 50 hours of playing skyrim as mutch as I remember.
Or did I miss the point. (thats possible...english skillz and stuff ^^)

No you didn't miss the point... you were just lucky I guess. I've got like 1k hrs playing and have only had it happen once.

I have nearly 500 hours and this is the first time I had seen it.
