I'm also getting a failed to build set to following location error. How would I go about remedying this. My skyrim is on my D drive so I don't know why it is trying to write to my C drive.

Why do you have a Bethesda Softworks\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim - Special Edition folder? Is that the Game pass/Windows store version of Skyrim SE? And you're trying to pass it as a Steam game? That won't work. Game pass/Microsoft store games are installed in protected folders and file modifications are very limited. So you can't freely mode that game as you would with a true Steam version.

no this isn't gamepass skyrim. The reason I'm asking for help is because I want to know how to fix the file location so it gets sent to the right place. The mod after I downloaded it created that file path somehow, and clearly it is not the right place for the files to go, but I don't know how to fix it.

Okay... but are you seeing that file path? It's obviously not the default path you'd expect for a regular Steam install. To fix the path you'll need to open Bodyslide and press the Settings button (near the bottom right corner of the main BS window) and set the \Data folder in the Game Data Path field.

Just a quick tip:

The Game Data Path Field - if Data is changed to "data" it points to the junction MO2 creates to merge all active mod folders to actual install folder when Virtual File system is active

Some utilities require the lower case "d" to function correctly

Bodyslide itself should have the proper field entries populated when MO2 starts with the Bodyslide mod enabled.

Bodyslide, SKSE, Skyrim, Skyrim Launcher & Creation Kit should all be autodetected when MO2 loads.

The only change to make would be to make "Data" "data" to point to junction MO2 creates, instead of actual Game Data directory.

I'm not sure if that's a thing (a quick test and my BS behaves the same with Data and data in that field). But I would like to read about these programs requiring lower case names in their settings to properly work.

By the way, if anyone needs help with writing assignments or essays, I can recommend a reliable service I used myself — https://nocramming.com/unemployedprofessors-promo-code — they do solid work, and you can grab a promo code for a discount.

Had a similar issue with Skyrim mods where BodySlide tried to write files to the wrong location. The solution was to open BodySlide settings, set the correct Game Data Path manually, and sometimes change "Data" to "data" so it properly linked with MO2's virtual file system.
