jabbic Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Looking to make some anims, the tutorials I've found all seem fairly insistent that Max is required; is this still true or is there a workflow using Blender and plugins without Max? I can't pay about $2000/year for Max just for this!
Stormer Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Yes, since tools necessary for animations/conversions to work in F4 are made only for MAX. But, there are ways.... You know the saying, those who want something, always find a way. Just google around, ask animators, you know the drill.
jabbic Posted April 11, 2021 Author Posted April 11, 2021 thanks I didn't want to embark on this if It Is Known to be a dead end! as long as there's hope if anyone can give me a shove in the right direction that would be great!
jabbic Posted April 14, 2021 Author Posted April 14, 2021 So, it looks like copies of 3dsMax 2015 are in circulation, but I heard a rumor the keygens contain trojans. I heard the text file says the virus check is a false positive and tells you to run it anyway, but that's exactly the sneaky trap I'd expect from a hacker. I bet loads of shady people are downloading it thinking they go something for free, run the keygen, and end up with their system compromised. I reckon that's what happens, right?
Hardsger Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 As probably none of the animators is paying the bill and no one in public threads mentions where 3ds max is available for free, your best bet is to join a modding community. Look for modder who invite people to their discord channels in public, check whats going on there. Maybe you can start slow and help people testing, getting a few friends or a teacher after all. There aren't many modder who can do everything on their own anyway.
dagobaking Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Unfortunately, you have to have HavokContentTools to generate the animation format for FO4. And that only installs into 3DSMax 2015 or 2016 or the Maya equivalents.

That is true, I too looked for 3dsMax 2015/2016 at some point and the keygen had a big-ass trojan. There's a guy that makes autodesk keygens, for like all the products, I found these keygens on his github, and all of them up to the 2020 version available at the time I checked had the trojan. And of course they keygens were .exe not source code so you couldn't see the code and confirm it's a false positive. If you put a trojan in your software you'd warn people of false positives too The thing is, the installer was clean in my experience, it was just the keygen that was mailicious. The installer just installed the legit version with a 30-day trial, so in theory, if you are EXTREMELY stubborn you could just make a virtual machine, install it there (no activating though, forget the keygen) and after 30 days make another VM and reinstall there, and move your files from one VM to another Whichever the case, be careful, don't become part of a botnet, or worse xD
