They are microdungeons categorized under forest biome microdungeons. They are called "old_cult" and "BreedingPit" but because they are linked under forest biome microdungeons we have yet to find a way to specifically force spawn only them by name.

 

A roundabout way we managed to do is "/placedungeon forestmicrodungeons" which will place a random forest biome microdungeon and if lucky it will choose one of our added once.

But you will encounter them soon enough on a new character and they are very small.

 

Really not worth going for all the effort but the important thing is we got the basics working and can work from that.

i got a crash in a mini dungeon after freeing a avian but i think it is becours i use the cutebound mod. i think the game does somthing strange by loading the sprite. the curious thing is only with the tentakle plant mod it spawns after destruction a normal loking avian despite using the cutebound mod.

Will have to check to see if it is the cutebound.

But I have to say that any mod that changes the vanilla character generation system is likely to brake the mod as the victim system uses the vanilla generation.

 

This said Avian wore a bit problematic when I was reworking the Lua script with them being the last vanilla race to work with the script after some code adjustments.

 

(The code was being reworked to be compatible with mod races.)

Absolutely love the mod, the style and the potential. Glad to see a little of everything in here, the tentacle bed is definitely on my list of fav items in my game (not just from the mod). Looking forward to seeing more ❤️

 

As for suggestions, aside from the obvious of keep up the great work, would be more things to do with the living tentacles and the tentacle creatures. These are pretty much off the wall ideas, but I figure I might as well put them out there~

 

- On the Mimic in the mod: Really cool concept, really pretty to look at and the first time you find one it throws you for a loop for sure. But outside looking awesome, I haven't found anything else to do with them but kill them. I leave them alive tbh because they're just thematically cool. I feel like the concept could be taken further though, if it were an interactive node while it's 'hiding'. That way you have to choose between two identical chests with a 50/50 of getting tentacled or getting loot. This would probably require sexbound (if it's possible at all), something I saw you're on the fence about, but I certainly think that custom animation can add a lot to a mod like this, especially for the players that like to be in their tentacle dungeon rather than just look at it.

 

- On the tiny tentacles: I think having them grow into a variety of randomly chosen tentacle themed creatures, like the mimic, would be awesome! Even if they didn't get custom animations or interactions, having a tentacle monster farm is basically what this mod is all about, and having non-static passive monsters beyond the bitty worms would be very fitting.

 

- On living tentacles: It's obvious these are meant to be a crafting material, given the way things are going. But crafting materials usually need a progression system in starbound and you probably don't want to turn it into an idle game where the beautiful assets become something to wait around on rather than enjoy. So my idea for it is different quality living tentacles (each named differently of course) are made by discovering different strains of tentacle on different tiers/types of planets. This opens up a lot of potential for new dungeons, new color/style variants, and brings the mod out of the 'single block store' state while still keeping the tentacle prime for your starting and decorative needs. It's great to have access to a bunch of awesome animations and items, but it's exciting to discover new ones while exploring ❤️ ( If you do this, though, please make a Frackin planet patch for it if needed~ I love Frackin almost as much as I love tentacles)

 

Sorry if this is long, but seeing a proper tentacle themed mod has me excited! So to wrap up, thank you again!

i have a few developmental projection questions not set for the near future but at some point in time
-when can we expect to be able to have sex with any of the creatures
-will you be adding other tentacle monsters
-will we be able to have a tentacle monster that turns us into a sexnode or other traps that the player could run into that can turn them into a node
-do you plan to add defeat support
-will there be other dungeons that could spawn outside of the forest biome maybe underground or in another planet type
-will you be adding other tentacle clothing items

so far this mod is nice and im looking forward to further development
as for the tentacle clothing im unsure if this is possible but if they wiggled around that be pretty cool, but i like your additions so far

Hey, glad you enjoy the mod!

We have much content planned but we take it really slow so it might take a long time for the next update.

 

-currently we have no plans of direct sex with any of the creatures

This would require sexbound and we are hesitant to make the mod sexbound dependent. Possible solutions: a separate downloadable addon that includes sexbound dependency and the requested features.

 

We had an internal discussion a long time ago and we are interested in it maybe we will give it a try after we have done most of our current update work.

If anyone is interested in making a sexbound addon for this mod to make creature sex happen be my guest! We would be very happy if anyone wanted to do this.

 

-other tentacle monsters?

Yes. We have planned some more types like a fast hitting medium size melee type or a giant one. Though they are on the backburner and the great conversion takes up most of the time. Other more vague ideas: monsters with randomly generated NPC stuck in them, a monster spawner with pregnant NPC visuals etc. If you have ideas or concept art please share!

 

-forcing player sexnodes?

Same answer as question #1.  After thinking about it we would probably do a separate sexbound-dependent addon for the mod. But it would be low priority. I have no Idea how forcing the player into a sexnode works but I think it is possible. Would need further research or someone else to do it.

 

-defeat support?

I have removed defeat from my modlist because it caused so many bugs. Maybe they have been fixed? Anyway, it would also need sexbound and I would have to look further into it what else is needed for it to work. I think if the sexbound basics are working the defeat mod should function upon that without much hassle.

 

-other dungeons?

Yes. The main thing I'm currently working on is a new big dungeon. It will have randomly generated rooms and passages for variety so if you encounter it again it will feel somewhat new and exciting because you will see rooms not seen before on your first encounter. But the tiled program used for dungeon creation has some issues... We have many dungeon ideas for many biomes/planets and we cannot say how many will be implemented for just the next update but they are certainly on the list. One idea is to have a big dungeon for each tentacle type to unlock a new kind of shop variant (example: stone tentacles). 

If you have a cool dungeon idea or, even better, made an actual dungeon json file for the mod, please share and we would be happy to include it, after some quality assurance.

 

-more tentacle clothing?

Yes. I have 4 or 5 different ideas planned on the list. The problem is when the character is standing still the clothing is not animated, also chest and head slot are not animated.

The newborn tentacle pieces are what I would consider the most animated possible on vanilla clothing and it's not much. To be honest I had my doubts with the clothing, that it would reduce the overall quality of the mod but it appears that some people actually like them to we will keep them in and I will add some more.

Again, if you have pixelart on clothing you want added or generally ideas you'd want included feel free to share.

 

If anyone knows how to make clothing animated while standing still perhaps we could include that. An idea for that would be to have the tentacles animated via effectsource animations instead of the actual equipment. Similar to how the dripping from bukkake set works but more advanced.

 

Our current goal is the big conversion from basic animations to layered randomly generated animations that offer multiple races and tentacle types for each animation! A huge undertaking but well worth it. Some new tentacle types we are thinking about: slime, plant, latex, cyborg. If you like those ideas or you have your own idea on a new tentacle type we could reskin on the animations please share! When we have finished the conversion overhaul anyone could easily do some pixelart for custom races or tentacle types for existing animations. But I have to dampen the hype as our projected development time on that will take ages.

I'm having trouble with the tentacle slide: when I jump into it my character starts flailing his arms wildly, it kinda looks like he's flickering between a swimming and falling animation. While it looks hilarious it also kinda breaks immersion. Is it something with the slide or have I somehow placed them wrong?

 

Also, please add a wider slide to use as a funnel for the narrower one! That would make it easier to build traps with it! :D (or a tentacle wall that pushes players away slightly. May be easier to use...)

The flailing was unintentionally at start and I'm not sure what does it as I have just appropriated some lines of jump related code and severely reduced some numbers for a  slow fall effect (velocity). After seeing it myself I decided to give it the ok as the slow works and the flailing could be seen as being molested by the tentacles.

It is the slide I can confirm you have done nothing wrong.

 

The wider funnel idea is interesting might give that a try. We had others suggest the idea of bouncy/pushy tentacles before but i will have to look if those can be made without mods via knockback effect on invisible projectile.

 

On the topic of traps, how would such a trap function? Wired activated or always on are the basic two types of traps in starbound.

Wire activated may be too much work and building needed to set it up but always on may be too obvious if you can already see the swinging tentacle and avoid it.

You could just wire up a proxy sensor to the trap. Also, can I make the request of more door/hatch sizes/types? I love the existing ones but we can always use more.

Looks like there's a minor bug with the living latex leggings when you put them on a mannequin. There are a bunch of not quite fully transparent pixels in the background which causes a weird bounding box when you hover over the mannequin. I was able to fix it by opening the tilesheet and properly erasing those pixels.

 

Also I started making some minor little addons for this mod. A tentacle door and light that work with colonies. A proximity sensor based on the eyemitter texture so it doesn't clash with the theme. Some extra potent tentacle secretions that work as ship fuel (these tentacle creatures are getting around the galaxy somehow). And a buffed up version of the intestine whip. Whips normally suck, but they fit the theme so well, so I made a strong one. I also did a few other little tweaks, like throwing the sleep effect back on the tentacle beds so they heal you. I might do something with all this stuff eventually, but right now I'm just experimenting. This is my first stab at starbound modding.

Hello! So I noticed that you all were brainstorming on what could come next for the mod, and I did notice the all-new tentacle dungeons. I've posted something like this somewhere else though perhaps it could work well here?

Well, here goes: Perhaps there are derelict ships, at first normal, but after short exploration is infested with tentacles, the crew(whatever faction they used to be from) turned into things to breed. I saw an idea before of a tentacle just picking you up, sort of like being knocked down by Defeat, but without losing health. I like this idea, so perhaps there's something like that.

You go on ship, find tentacle area, avoid tenta-fuck traps, maybe rescue a crew, grab loot, leave. Tentatraps could hook you in and breed you, and if Sexbound support is in(or maybe not if you wanted to do it yourself), you could get pregnant by tentacle seed.

Anyways, there's my idea. Excited to see what comes for the future of this mod!

I wrote a little script that lets the "objects" in this mod say random lines of text every so often. Moaning, begging for release, that sort of thing. Helps them seem a bit less like decoration objects and a bit more like people. And you can customize it to each object so their lines will match their predicament. I might also throw in some proximity sensor code so they talk to you as you walk by.

I've been looking into something like this, and it's very difficult to actually trap the player. I found a vore mod that cleverly forces the player to sit in a vehicle that can't move. Then they animate the vehicle and the player. That eliminates most player inputs. You can't move or attack or anything. But you can still just get out of the vehicle by pressing E. I can't figure out how the mod is getting around that problem.

@Noone6 - Nice idea! Might work on a derelict ship encounter similar to the uscss nostromo or the event horizon. You can always build it yourself, send me pictures with description and I will make it a dungeon that can spawn in mod.

Finished a proof of concept for an entangler trap. I figured out from the vore mod that the way to keep the player in the vehicle is to throw a status effect on them that constantly tries to put the player back in the vehicle. You can technically exit the vehicle by pressing E, but the status will throw you back in it 1 frame later. It looks a little odd for 1 frame, but just stop pressing E. As far as I can tell it's now inescapable.

 

It's very crude at the moment. The player just floats there with some tentacles taken from another object that don't quite fit the character. But this is a good first step.

AFAIK the vore mod helps with this by making the player invisible. Perhaps combine the techniques used there with SXB to make something that works pretty flawlessly. Trouble with going that route is the SXB problem of patching all the races.

i do remember looking into this mod before, i think there was also a struggle system. where you could occasionally get out 
either that or idk but yeah the e thing didnt always work

sadly, im not a modder i can't code etc i might be able to make some pixel art but probably not as good as i want 
however, i could pull ideas in from wherever, though this would be just ideas.. based on what i think would look nice in the mod rather than knowing the difficulty level of doing such a thing
for the next updates i wish you luck in your creative process honestly i would love to see what this mod grows into

as for ideas
-the idea for finding abandoned ships is great most mods generally have this in them anyway
-the sexbound thing could be a compatibility mod as i feel this wouldnt tie ur mods together. though i dont know the cons of doing this, maybe some of the monsters can't initiate sex or something?

- some ideas could come from a game called Deep in Braixen Space which is heavily tentacle focused 
     - ones that hide/blend in with the surroundings (theres already a few current monsters that do so) and pop out
     - tanky ones
     - ones that jump at you
     - ones that hang from ceilings
     - etc
- this idea comes from a different porn game where you survive against waves of enemies. i think it would be pretty interesting if the little tentacle things gestate inside n/pcs 
i think it should function by the player having to fight the intruding tentacle before it impregs the player (then despawns) and u do whatever after tbh. idk maybe there be a probability of missing the player on attack, that probability being drastically lower when naked. then when the n/pc gives birth its always the same kind of cannon fodder monster so it's a) easy b) not a free op crewmate. the current lil worm bois could work perfectly fine in this way. maybe the monsters that fuck the player cause the player to birth a little worm monster that tries hopping back in right away. 
- another could be an infested, which would be more of a host npc wrapped in or controlled by tentacles, ofc this can be accomplished by any hostile npc with tentacle armor on that have a special weapon that does tentacle type attacks or something.
