Deep Red Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I've been trying to finish a mash up armor this week, but I'm stuck on the CK phase of modding. I've got a good sense and grip of how the CK works and its functions in regards to creating armors, weapons, and ammunition from scratch as well. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why the Creation Kit keeps making shitty hidden edits to my esp files. This little issue has been pestering me for months now and caused hours of grief trying to figure out what causes it. Whenever I open a plugin file, edit or create something and save it. The CK makes mysterious edits to my file. For example, the other day I was playing around with a custom race file changing the race's height and special abilities. When I was done making the changes and saved, the character's biped slots were all jacked up when I tried playing with that race. That cause the game to go haywire and crazy things like hair showing through helmets, the notorious invisible torch bug, and invisible left-hand weapons happened. Luckily TES5 Edit saved the day as it didn't cause any problems when I used to reasign the incorrect slots to their proper place. In today's case, creating ArmorAddon IDs within the CK caused my armor's vertices to explode as if I had made a mistake skinning or weighing it but I made no such error while in 3ds max. Proof of that was when I used the same meshes I assigned to the ArmorAddon form with to replace something that was already functional and in-game such as leather armor. I replaced those meshes and my armor worked explosion-free. But as soon as I tried to put them back into the ArmorAddon I had been working on it explodes. The CK also seems to be selective with these sneaky edits. On some plugins it doesn't do anything, but on others it totally violates them anally. I can tell it did something to the ArmorAddon form because in TES5 Edit there's a couple of odd hexadecimal values in places other working clothes/armor mods don't have. Anyone have an idea to as what's going on?
