Auraria Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Hey there guys, I got a 'small' problem. I recently started modding skyrim again, after not playing the game for 1 or 2 years. I tryed out the new vortex mod manager but wasn't even able to instal skse right so I changed back to the community supported nmm that is available right now (don't know if that is important so I'm going to include it) and so I started installing quite a few mods. Trying if the game still runs every few mods so I can find problems and disable them and installing a few adult mods as well. Everything went pretty fine. I cleaned my standart skyrim files before I started and installed somewhere between 50 and 100 mods. I had no problems, expressions and animations were fine, everything worked. And than I shut down 'nmm' and my pc to go to bed. The next day when I tryed opening skyrim (or skse) I only got past the bethesda logo, saw the skyrim logo on the left (but not the buttons to start a new game ... on the right), than my screen turned white for a second and skyrim just closed down. No crash message no nothing, just white and than I see my desktop. I tested my game right before closing it down the day before and everything worked fine. I didn't change anything since than, I didn't install anything, nothing. I tryed restarting both 'nmm' and my computer a few times and even disabled the last few installed mods but I get the same result every time. Loot doesn't find any mistakes either and I ran 'fnis' a few times just to make sure as well. I don't really know, what could caus this but I think I had this problem already, back when I stopped playing skyrim. And I don't really want to reinstall all my mods just for them to be unusable the next time I shut down my computer either. I would have to basicly deep clean my skyrim folder every time and until I reinstall everything I need to go to bed again :D. And so I thought I would post this here, hoping someone knew this and maybe even how to fix it /what caused it. Ty in advance for at least reading threw the text wall and sorry for potential mistakes in the writing ;D
Gukahn Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Had a similar issue 2 times now. One time as i fiddled with an Ini file and the second today as i was fiddling with other files. Both times just opening steam and let diagnostics do its thing did work for me. Maybe try that as well?
Andy14 Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 If LOOT doesn't find anything and it was still running the day before, let Steam check the file integrity.
Auraria Posted February 20, 2021 Author Posted February 20, 2021 Ty for the help guys. While doing the 'verify integrity' thing didn't help immidiatly, LOOT did find a problem afterwards. Apparently one of my mod files got corrupted or something and since that was a hard requirement for another, very big mod, it crashed the game. I reinstalled it and now it works.
