To be honest, I was surprised there was not a mod out there already for this, and half-expected the first few comments when I posted it would be to point out a mod that works better than mine. I Googled around quite a bit to even find a name for the issue, which I call "Vertex warps" on the main page. It was just an effect I stumbled across when I was making another mod that involves mannequins, and thought I would put it out there for people to see and comment upon. If anything it was intended to be a start of a discussion around solutions to the problem, rather than a conclusive end.

I recently downloaded the Mour follower, and every five seconds her tail goes absolutely insane lol. But when it's working it is so much better than a static tail.

Function #1 in the description affects everything that has HDT; all items in the mod have that. Function #2 and #3 only affect wigs, though, with slight changes, I could add anything that can be equipped/unequipped. 1

tamai Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) I havent tried this mod out yet however i felt i should relay my findings here for those it might help ^^ so if you're using HDT hairs specifically DINT hairs the mesh folders for the hairs will look something like this so you have extras files all go to specific parts of the hair the main one being 1Butterfly098.nif so in order to stop them spazzing out on you constantly is take all those shapes merge them into one nif file, then they shouldnt spazz out. The spazzing out in my case happens when i was using smp pe for skyrim LE. Edited October 11, 2021 by tamai

That is part of the engine and happens automatically, so I use that to trigger wig removal and replacement. Would it happen in this case as well? I'm not sure. For the player, the enchantment remains continuous throughout the loading screen, so the wig would not be removed, but you would still have the benefit of havok briefly pausing. I've done my fair share of messing with nif files and I have no idea how to do what you say. ? If such a merged file could be uploaded, I could replace them, that much I can do. However, the vertex warps or spazzing happen even without hdt wigs, with hdt hair, and with breast and butt physics sometimes, just that the hair is the worst offender. ?

While yes it is a pain but that's just how skyrim modding is lol... but anyone with bodyslide or nifskope experience can merge the shapes into the same outfit, the geometry of the shapes don't need to be merged they just have to be in the same outfit The wigs and the hair are exactly the same they both don't work correctly because HDT effects are being applied to not 1 but 4 different nif files however can confirm it doesnt spazz for me once merged, this only applies to hairs though. This was the best method i found to stop HDT hairs from spazzing and getting stuck and this took hours and hours to figure out test after test xD I have only merged the hairs that I like so im not looking to create a fix more so just relaying the information to those that want to try since ive seen nobody else mention it before and ive seen several people talk about stuck physics with HDT hairs. EDIT: if anyone wants me to walk them through the process they can pm me. works on specifically Dint hairs or HDT hairs that rely on multiple objects. Edited October 18, 2021 by tamai

It's cool. From the start I was sure there must be a better solution than the one I came up with, but I think you are the first one to post anything. The havok freeze was just an effect I randomly discovered while modding mannequins for something else, so I thought I would share it. I totally welcome more elegant solutions such as this. 1
