Loony Mods Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 I've been trying to remove some parts of outfits/armor sets in Outfit Studio and Bodyslide. Having quickly run into trouble when trying to delete vertices, I moved on to try zap sliders. They seem way less permanent/destructive and gets around the problem of having to conform everything again. I read/watched through some online tutorials and it seems easy enough in theory: 1. Open outfit in Outfit Studio. 2. Mask the vertices you want to remove. 3. Go and create a new zap slider while the vertices are masked. 4. Save project. 5. Tick box in Bodyslide and the vertices are "gone". The only problem I've been having is that once I reach step 5, the new zap sliders aren't working. I am 99.999% confident that I am setting up the zap sliders in Outfit Studio correctly, but somewhere in the process of getting everything over to Bodyslide it seems to lose the masked vertices. The slider works correctly when I'm in OS, all the vertices are shifting forward when I move the slider so I know it's affecting them. I can even deselect all vertices, go into edit mode on the new zap slider, and hit the "Mask Affected Vertices" button in the Slider drop-down menu up top, and it will go and mask all the vertices I wanted removed just like normal. It really seems to be working just fine. I then go and hit Save As, save as a new project with a different name so it's not overriding the base outfits (don't want to cause irreparable harm), and open up Bodyslide to the new outfit. The tick box for the new slider is even there! Except when I check the box... nothing happens. None of the masked vertices disappear. If I then go and use the button to open up the outfit from Bodyslide into OS, the slider is still there - but none of the vertices are masked anymore. Somewhere in the process of saving the outfit and opening it up in Bodyslide it appears to me to be unmasking the vertices for the new zap slider, rendering it useless. Â Any thoughts?

Did you invert the mask before step 3?

I verified it as well by using the slider while the outfit was still in OS, and the correct part of the model moves to indicate it's controlled by the zap slider.
Loony Mods Posted January 10, 2021 Author Posted January 10, 2021 Update: I believe I've found the factor breaking it - the physics versions of the vanilla CBBE outfits. Non-physics outfits don't break the new zaps, while the physics versions do. No idea why or how to fix it, but at least the problem seems to be identified. 2
Prurient Alchemist Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I am having this exact same issue, I saved a few zaps on this outfit and everything worked fine. I attempted to make another zap for a different part and the zap won't save. Did you ever figure out a solution? Sorry for the Necromancy.
A_Garsee-ya Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 I've got this exact same issues as well. I am also sorry for the necromancy.
traison Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 A couple of issues here: The instructions in the OP are incomplete. Before creating the zap slider, you need to invert the mask. Masking in OS generally means "do NOT change these vertices" whereas the intuitive way would be "do change these vertices". It's backwards. The zap slider is not supposed to save the mask. Masking is not unique to zap sliders. I am not sure if you can alter which vertices are affected by a zap slider, other than with the eraser - i.e. you can most likely remove zapped vertices, but I'm not sure you can add to them.
danna233 Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 When creating a new slider zap, you must have all shapes selected.
