Throwawayaccount321 Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I've been having a consistent ctd and I'm not sure what mod is causing it. I've narrowed it down to a mod not within my unassigned category, so its not mods from here I believe but I just can't figure it out. I've tried going through and activating them all one by one, but that doesn't seem to work as after I experience my first ctd and disabling the mod, it continue to ctd until I start over again. The crash is very consistent, it always happen by either hitting esc and opening the menu, or after a certain amount of time which I can assume to be me leaving an area. To put it in perspective, I usually start in Dawnstar by ship using Alternate Starts, there is an unmarked shrine to Dibella outside of Dawnstar along the main road towards Whiterun. I am able to get between halfway and 3/4 of the way there before it crashes. I've never had it crash while in the area that you started in, the starting room and structure for Alternate Starts by the mentioned above methods. Now this isn't the load order from Wyre Bash, I do not have it as my anti-malware program detected it as a Trojan. This is the mod list taken from PapyrusUtilDev text document. FNIS version is 7.6 and to get rid of the question before it is asked, no, I am not above animation limit as FNIS says "4613 animations for 18 mods successfully included (character)" while I have a limit of 10 000 animations. Grey Cloud Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 In no particular order: Disabling a mod and then carrying on from the same same usually doesn't help as things get baked into the save. Did previous games work? Have you tried starting in different locations, e.g. in the wilds, in a city, etc? Do you have the various stability tools installed? As for animations, the max figure varies from set up to set up and it is only character animations which affect things. There is a utility mod which eliminates the max allowed anyway. Assuming the crashes only occur near Dawnstar then you are probably looking for a dodgy mesh. Disable half your mods and try from a new game. If the game doesn't crash then try the other half and keep halving until you find the culprit. If you are crashing in various areas after various lengths of play time then you probably haven't got your game configured properly.

It happens at multiple locations, I've had it happen when starting from Solitude, Riften, Dawnstar and using the "Escape from this cell" start which has you escaping from the Abandoned Prison. I was doing a fresh install of Skyrim so no, previous saves are kinda out of the question. I went through a similar fashion as the method you suggested of disabling half and going from there. I disabled all, then enabled the mods that are needed for all the other mods or like CBBE, Fuz Ro Doh and some framework mods. From there I enabled all of the unassigned and their dependencies. After that, I went from one category of mods to another. Enabling one category at a time and testing it in a new save, running from Dawnstar port to the shrine. You'd think this would be a surefire way of finding it, but its super weird. My 4th attempt at doing this, I got to the very last 3 mods without a crash, 3 weapons mods. I enabled them, and it crashed. I disabled them and it kept crashing despite them being disabled and me thinking the rest of the mods were good.

Throwawayaccount321 Posted December 27, 2020 Author Posted December 27, 2020 I've figured out the problem but I do not know how to fix it. The problem was 4 mods, Forgotten City, Legacy of the Dragonborn, Rigmor of Bruma and Paarthanuax Dilemma.

I did the method you suggested, disable half the mods and go from there, got me to the 3 categories of patches, player homes and quests causing the crashes and then from there only quests enabled caused a crash. And from much further testing Legacy of the Dragonborn is most definitely the one considering in the incompatibility section of it. That and after singling out just Legacy, out of those 4, it ctd like usual. "-Sexlab/Lover's Lab mods: LL mods are very resource heavy and affect areas of the system which conflict with heavily modded setups and heavily scripted games. Nobody on the Legacy team utilizes or endorses use of LL content with Legacy as there have been numerous reports of stability concerns which we cannot address. If you choose to utilize these with Legacy, do so at your own risk and seek help at the LL site instead."
scarebear2403 Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 I have used both together with no problems. And this was on a script heavy load order. The only issue I have ever encountered is script bottle necking while turning in your loot can cause the progression dialogue to not start. Scripts won't crash your game unless you stack dump. Which is really hard to do unless you have a 'troublesome' mod installed. I am not going to name the problem mods here on LL but they are very few. Legacy is worth the overhead IMO for the amount of content it brings but it has a lot of compatabilty problems with nexus mods (overhauls, loot tables, cell edits) that need to be patched or at least be aware of. LL mods don't typically touch what Legacy does so there are few conflicts overall. I would look elsewhere for your CTD issue. How many animations do you have installed? Is your memory set up correctly?

I do not know if my memory is set up correctly. Upon playing without the LL mods, I was able to play going from Dawnstar to Whiterun to Riverwood without a single ctd but now when I exit Riverwood going towards the standing stones it crashes consistently.
Grey Cloud Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 LotD is one of those mods which people either love or hate. Never used it myself but it appears to interfere with too many areas of the game. 22 hours ago, Throwawayaccount321 said: "-Sexlab/Lover's Lab mods: LL mods are very resource heavy and affect areas of the system which conflict with heavily modded setups and heavily scripted games. For starters, LL mods come in all shapes and sizes so tarring them all with the same brush is ridiculous. Then there is this 'script heavy' nonsense which crops up all over the place. Nobody ever defines what exactly constitutes 'script heavy' or why this is a problem. 25 minutes ago, Throwawayaccount321 said: Fnis says that my limit is 10000 when I have 4k roughly FNIS does not tell you your limit. 27 minutes ago, Throwawayaccount321 said: I do not know if my memory is set up correctly. I was thinking it was LL that was causing it, but the latest crash issue seems similar to the last one so I'm inclined to believe that something else entirely is causing it. But that didn't change the fact how I could not crash before with LotD enabled but LL mods disabled and vice versa but with both enabled it crashes. From my FNIS Generate FNIS Behavior files for Users V7.6 (Skyrim 32bit) Call this tool: (IMPORTANT, or else all charactes will FREEZE!!!) - After installing FNIS, or any mod that uses FNIS - After deinstallation of any mod that uses FNIS NOTE: Skyrim will crash (CTD) whenever you add too many custom animations. FNIS will warn you when you have reached the critical animation limit. FNIS XXL will also calculate the contribution of each FNIS depending mod towards this limit. NOTE2 (VERY important!!!): You can increase your animation number DRASTICALLY with these tools: Animation Limit Crash Fix (Skyrim SE and LE), SSE Engine Fixes (Skyrim SE only) Since FNIS cannot know if such mod is installed, it will still warn you at the original limit. But when such tool is used, load calculation can be switched off (FNIS.ini: "LoadCTDCalculation=0") Current FNIS limit: 10000 animations (3rd person character only) Before I try disabling more mods I'm going through the link you provided to see if that helps.
