How to install Sims4 Mods

hi,

I am new to Sims4 modding and I have read some posts on installing them.

Can someone correct my understanding please?

1. General contents of mod files that can be downloaded

Eg,  ABC+BONUS.zip

When unzipped:

...\ABC+BONUS\ABC.package

                            ...

                            ...

...\ABC+BONUS\TRAY\DFFVD.householdbinary   <--- Have not come across mods with this so I am guessing here

                                      ....

...\ABC+BONUS\BONUS\Mods\ASDF.package

                                                     ...

                                                     ...

...\ABC+BONUS\BONUS\Tray\WRFSA.householdbinary

                                             0x0000000321131.hhi

                                                   ....

                                                   ....

                                                   ....

My understanding is

1. Package files (...\ABC+BONUS\Mod\ABC.package) go into "...\The Sims 4\Mod\ "  Folder

2. Tray files (...\ABC+BONUS\TRAY\DFFVD.householdbinary) go into "...\The Sims 4\Tray\ " folder

But what do I do with files in "...\BONUS\Mods\" and  "...\BONUS\Tray\" folders?

I don't know how to deal with BONUS folders.

The fact that it is labeled "BONUS" makes me think that it means "Additional",  "optional " or "update"?

What I have been doing so far is to just install the main mod as in steps 1 and 2 above and

then overwrite the files in "...\The Sims 4\Mods\" with '...\BONUS\Mods\"

and overwrite the files in "...\The Sims 4\Tray\" with '...\BONUS\Tray\"

I have no idea whether this is the correct way it is meant to be installed.

Can someone correct my understanding please?

Bonus is just a name they used and could be named anything.

The main thing is looking for the Tray folder in the case of downloading custom made sims or households.

You have to copy all those single Tray files with the strange numbers into your Sims 4/Tray folder.

Other files like package and scripts have to go into your Mods folder.

Make new single folders by category inside your Mods folder to keep things organized.

Example:

Mods/Hairstyles

Mods/LittleMsSam Quick Shower & Bath

Mods/Makeup

Mods/MCCC

Mods/Nails

Mods/Clothing

Mods/Wicked Whims

etc.

Don't put script files any deeper into sub-folders than what I've shown above.

This is what is meant by 'one folder deep' in your Mods.
