Why do some of the Traits disappear?

Hello, first sorry for my English, I'm Brazilian.

I'm new to The Sims 4, and I noticed that sometimes some of my Traits disappear as I add other mods and sometimes the list appears so small. I've seen some different videos (on other subjects) where when a person creates a Sim, their list appears huge, with several options, but mine doesn't. I've already downloaded some and they rarely appear on my list. I don't know why that is happening, I wish someone could help me.

Edited: I found out later that some custom traits can disappear due to outdated and/or error and file corruption (which was my case), but thanks for the attention. I've already fixed them.

Some traits only come with certain expansion packs, not just mods.
