Molevalence Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Good day. I just discovered 2 body presets and I figured out to merge them together (yay!) into one bodyslide preset I enjoy. I then ran into a texture on nexus that had something that would look great: breast veins. I think this has nothing to do with bodyslide at all. This is more of a texture scenario. My questions are as follows: a) Would it be possible to just take the breast vein textures and convert them over to the body textures I am currently using? If so: b) If it is possible, how? (Something tells me this may involve creation kit) c) How difficult would this endeavor be? I am what you would consider an amateur with basic knowledge on modding. (I understand installing mods, Using MO2, adjusting files, the basics) Altering a texture is something I have little to no knowledge on. I did once a few years back in New Vegas for a hairstyle but that didn't go over to well. X.x Let me know if you can. Couldn't hurt to ask.
rafael666 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Locate the body .DDS file being used for the texture (fem_body.dds or some such), in your mod or data folder (It's late here, sorry I am too tired to look). You can load that up in a free paint program such as Gimp. then create a layer over the old DDS using the texture that you want to substitute or blend. (Google a tutorial for Gimp on how to do that). Save as a new DDS with the same name (Back up your old file first! - fem_bodyOLD.dds). If you located the correct original file then the game should now use your edited file instead. I wouldn't mess with the dimensions of the file, sometimes that can affect the UV mapping and things get weird. Depends on how it was saved. (I.E. don't try to use something like a 1024 x 1024 texture with a 2048 x 2048 texture and then make them a 512 x 512 and save. It will probably get messed up! Try to have them both the same size when you start and save in the size of the original). Good luck with it!

The only time you can have problems doing this is when you change size of canvas and your original image dont cover it fully or dont fit in it

B)dont need creation kit C)can be rather difficult if mod author have not attached original resources (layers of added elements on texture) and texture have a lot of changes in color from default So try first find/ask original resources
Molevalence Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 Thank you for the replies. Ive been taking notes down on the information given to me and going to watch some tutorial videos on Gimp, and take Indarello's advice and see if I can ask around to locate the original textures. Hopefully I dont bite off more than I can chew. :)
rafael666 Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 Go to your bodyslide directory and look for something like \BodySlide and Outfit Studio\textures\actors\character\female (or redguardfemale, ImperialFemale etc.) Those *Should* be the textures being used. Femalebody_1.dds is a good file to start with. Back them up and go wild with Gimp2! I wouldn't worry about getting anyone's permission if they are for personal use (I.E. you don't plan on distributing derivative works or making a mod with them for distribution).
