Creation Kit Crash

I relocated my Skyrim to another C: location, and afterwards Steam wouldn't open, so I had to relocate that, too. Now my CK will not open, and I guess that means I have to relocate that too, but I think I royally screwed up. I need desperately to redownload the CK again (preferably from Steam), but when I go to Steam and check "tools" to "install game" on the Creation Kit link, I only get "play game" which attempts to open my CK. How the hell do I get a new CK!? Thanks. :)

ps. I asked Steam these questions over a week ago, and got NO response. :@

Well best option would be to re-install steam and Skyrim.

Also did you move Steam & Skyrim via Copy + Paste ? If yes then you have to edit reg entry and change Skyrim/Steam Location.

Actually, I believe I used the "drag/drop" method. I did not however un/reinstall Steam. When I moved it, I deleted the appcache and made Steam update it, allowing for safe travel. CK, however, well... I SCREWED UP :o I moved some files, and every time I did, the CK worked a little more. Right now it's missing some navmeshes, according to errors I get when trying to open CK (man I miss that thing). It says could not find model Meshes\Sky\Atmoshere.nif and Meshes\Sky\Clouds.nif and Meshes\Water\DefaultProceduralWater.NIF. Help? I've never had to move stuff around like this before. Save me from myself! :-/  :@ lol

Like I said system is probably reading that Steam + Skyrim + CK is still installed on other disk/location that's why you might have problems.

I thought I already uninstalled the Creation Kit. I erased all of my CK data. Shouldn't it ask me if I would like to downoad CK or something? I don't actually have to uninstall EVERYTHING do I? Surely there's another way to reinstall this to a location of my choosing...

Ok, I got all of CK data back, but it just keeps wanting to read from it's default location. 1) How do I make CK read from it's actual location? I have it's info in C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim. 2) Is it even in the right place? I edited reg entries anyway, but I don't want to redownload Skyrim. Must I? I did reinstall Steam, though. Also, I wanted ask:

3) Is Skyrim the only game CK works for??

Hmm did you try to remove CK only via steam ?

Right click on CK  > Properties > Local Files > Verify Local Files (If that won't help remove local files and re download CK )

That's the step I just tried to perfom a week ago. I got rid of everything CK related, but I have no idea HOW to redownload the CK. Even Steam won't give me a link to the damn thing! Steam sucks so much ass! :@ I'm working day and night to try to figure this out (I should have gone to sleep 4 hours ago for work) so if Steam can't find me a direct link to the CK, one of the Labsters will have to ferform their magic and find me one. They always do!

Also, using regedt32, check the registry, where you'll have to find this for the installed path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Skyrim

Thanks for the replies HanPL and Rayblue! I got this gruelling problem solved!! Finally! I renamed my steamapps folder to old_steamapps, and I went to Steam (the site), and noticed that it said "Install" on each of my games. That's what I've been looking for. I went to the Creation Kit in "Tools" and clicked "install game", and it installed. I then went strait to my old_steamapps folder and tried to activate the Creation Kit.exe., but I got the error saying that my steamapi.dll was missing from my computer (I've gotten that message a lot of times). Then I clicked on my tiny Steam icon on my task bar and clicked "Creation Kit" there, and it fired right up, good as new. Then I simply renamed old_steamapps back to steamapps, and everything was back to normal. It took Steam 2 weeks to send me a useful solution, but it finally happened. Hopefully, if someone else has this problem, they will find this post, instead of contacting Steam. Steam takes too long to answer, and when they do, it's usually basic troubleshooting that doesn't solve anything. WOOHOO! I can mod again!
