Hair visible while wearing accessory

This is a new one for me.  And as I understand it usually people have the opposite problem.  But when I equip certain hoods, the hair is still visible.  Not all hoods though.  Some work the way they're supposed to.  Not sure what the deal is.  Attached are two pictures, one is the nightingale hood showing the glitch.  The theives guild hood works through, which is weird.  The nightingale hood takes up the same slots and then another two on top of that, yet the hair is still visible.  Never happened before, no recent changes to load order since this issue started (after having so many glitches I decided to stop installing new stuff for a while and just update mods as updates become availible, yet here I am again somehow with a new spontaneously appearing glitch).

 

I use KS hairdos, but I have been using KS hairdos since the earliest days of my modding career.  This has never happened before.  Could it be a specific hair style that causes this?  I don't think I've used this specific hairstyle before?  (I am NOT using the mod that allows for two styles at the same time.  It isn't installed nor was it ever.  I didn't feel the need for it.  Just to get that suggestion off the table).

dd settings use slot 60 ?

In the past I had a similar issue, this was caused by those DD settings.

I disabled the DD settings already.  Besides DD settings usually hide, not show.  So far my reading suggests it could be the particular style of hair being broken but I want to confirm that's possible.  My google efforts didn't give me a solid answer to work with, just a similar issue in an older TES game.

Nightingale hood is very special. For NPC vs. PC there are different forms in the CK.
What would you like to have? The hood without hair?

Yes.  The hood without the hair.  However, as I said, this is the first time it has happened.  The hood has worked just fine on previous characters (might still, haven't tested them yet).  So I'm curious if its the specific hair, or if something just randomly broke and now it's like this for all characters and hair styles.

 

Even so if you have advice on fixes, or just how the hood is special in general I don't mind hearing them.

 

(Reason I think it is the specific hair is that google search told me that a similar problem existed in a past TES game, and because the hood still fits NPCs like Karliah and Brynjolf just fine.)
