Help with schlong textures for a follower mod

I'm trying to help someone convert a follower to use an SOS body, but he uses custom textures. I'm nearly done, I just need to know what the file path should look like so he uses his own schlong textures instead of whatever they happen to have and not overwrite SOS. Please help, my brain doesn't like to stop halfway through fixing something when I know it's possible and I want to sleep.

SPECULATION: Have you tried dropping them into your follower's texture path? (ie, wherever his other custom textures are located?)

the dog has never done any male custom stuff (aside from facial tweaks that is), only female.

 

Anyway if not, I'd at least give it a shot. you know how these forum posts can go. you could be sitting on your hands for days or weeks  (or even forever) waiting for an answer when posting a given query... can't hurt to try it.

Yeah, unfortunately, that was the first thing I tried. Doesn't help he has two potential schlongs he can use and three texture folders. Speaking of, here is the Nexus link I should have posted so everyone can use the preview thing to see how the folders are normally set up. It's also my first time working on a male follower, so I'm surprised I got this far, but I also know I am sitting on top of something really obvious.

Update: Okay, I got some sleep, poked around some more, and realized I was looking at this wrong and realized he (probably) needs a dedicated dong. Now my problem is creating an add-on for SOS for him which is...beyond me. There's a guide and a template and it looks doable, but then I wouldn't have any idea how to smash the follower and the schlong files together since they would have separate esps and...yeah, I'm dropping this one for now.

 

Basically, if anyone can tell me I'm being an idiot and it's much simpler than this, cool. If not, then it's fine, just let this thread slowly work its way into the forum trash compactor.

Why not just assign one from SOS and list SOS as a dependency (presuming you're going to publish it)

Right, just realized I never fully explained when I first posted because I was up late. If I give him the SOS body with his own textures, SOS attaches one of my game's schlongs with my game's textures. For the life of me I can't find my screenshots folder, but it looks like the guy shaved a perfect square out of his pubes.

Afaik, screen shots are dumped into your main skyrim SE folder. (or .../data or ..../data/skse. can't recall which)

or wherever your skyrim folder is

 

In any case, yes, I'm familiar with that disturbing empty square thing. (dunno why but humorously enough, it freaks me out when it happens either to my male player or to some random male encountered when I'm playing on my female vector - she's much much nicer to watch when walking with FNIS sexy moves 5 applied )

 

So I presume your custom dong isn't located in the same spot as the normal SOS one, so it gets shifted from the "proper" location?

 

hmm... yeah a few screen shots would help, (even if I'm not usually looking for dickpics lol).

Oh ffs, I ran a search on my entire C drive for a 'screenshots' and found 8 folders and the picture was just sitting in the main folder...here's what it looks like when I let SOS handle the schlongification

Hmm...ok, so it applies to the right location, it just has the wrong texture (or tint anyway). 

 

I remember when I first started digging into the SL side of the game and encountered that with some character or another, I found quite a few posts that recommended installing  a specific texture for males to deal with the disparity.... shoot, the name is escaping me...  ah.. tempered skins *I think. Tempered something anyway ... a bit more searching and...

(there are 8 different downloads so pick the "right one" or ones to evaluate)

 

If you can ferret out the name I'm blanking on, then download it, manually, decompress it to a dummy folder, and check the folder structure of the archive, you may be able to see the appropriate folder structure for applying your custom texture

 

tbh, I never installed it myself, so something of a crap shoot. But I distinctly remember posts suggesting it, AND the more I think about it, some of the early vag and penis replacement mods suggested the same for texture problem, so I suspect there's some "solution' In them, even if it only provides someone using their own custom textures with organizational info. (since you wouldn't want to replace you custom texture of course)

Right, this got me back to working on it for a bit, but I still can't quite suss this out. I ended up putting copies of the Vector and Smurf meshes in there and used Nifskope to do the texture file paths (had to learn how to clean out the file paths so other people wouldn't get missing textures) because that way it doesn't matter where the textures are, but I still can't get SOS to use his schlong meshes...I'm just going to put this one in a folder somewhere and toy with it when I feel like it. But thank you, really, for trying so hard to help with this.
