Cozy Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Since I hate how fast days fly by in Skryim I used the console command "Set Timescale to x." The default is 20 meaning for every r/l minute 20 minutes pass in game. Now while I was tempted to try to set the timescale to 1 I read that doing so can break quests, and AI. So I decided to in my case "set timescale to 3." So basically for every r/l minute 3 minutes pass in game, which means it takes 20 minutes for an hour to pass in game. For me it's reasonable and I like having things move at much slower pace. If I need to wait until morning, afternoon, dark, my character can just sit down relax and wait as well. Some people prefer to set it to 5 or even 10. But for me it's 3. I'm just curious? Do you use the "Set Timescale to x" console code, and if so, what's your preferred setting?
polluxval Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 i used 3 but after some time my game bugged. u'll notice it on when you get to 20+ hrs. supposly anything under 5 could break your game.
polluxval Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I should say 5 is good. im using it and so far 40+ hours of gameplay and no issues. only the normal corrupt shit but that happens even without any kind of mod or tweak.
cornbreadtm Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 This mod should keep your game from getting bugged up. It gets bugged up around places like Riverwood when you change the timescale. the game is delicate like that. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21552
Dude500X Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 go for 5. I unsure if it affects Skyrim but I know in fallout 3 anything under 5 causes boo boos
cornbreadtm Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 go for 5. I unsure if it affects Skyrim but I know in fallout 3 anything under 5 causes boo boos For Skyrim its anything under 6 plus location and quests. Npcs will get stuck at 5 and under then start acting erratically. You won't notice till a quest breaks.
Rayblue Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I used a timescale of 6, especially after finishing the main quest. Better yet, use a mod that provides dynamic timescale without screwing up the NPC timetables.
Deep Red Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I've been using a timescale of 3 for quite a while now and when I got the Dragonborn DLC I noticed that the sun is always out in Solstheim. Is this a problem induced because the timescale is less than 5? If so, would changing it to something equal to or greater than 5 resolve the problem, or have I fucked my saved game up?

Cozy Posted March 11, 2013 Author Posted March 11, 2013 Well I haven't installed the mod yet, though I likely will after my next Data Folder back up. I switched set timescale to 6. Just to be on the safe side. Hopefully switching it to 3 initially, then to 5, then once again to 6 won't screw things up. But it's still fairly early in the game. Plus chances are I'll install the mod Cornbread posted rather soon, which will put my mod count up to 170.
