ZMerge V Merge Plugins

I am a bit confused, is there a better choice between the two? Short Story, I just moved from LE into SE and now I am trying to recreate my mod lists. I am dangerously approaching that 255 plugin limit and figured merging plugins can help alleviate it. After poking around, I heard that there is a ZMerge and wondered if that is any different compared to Merge Plugins. I've been following guides from Gamerpoets and various forums from here, but I could not find anything related to ZMerge.

I have used both, and found them both somewhat odd at times, I merged about a dozen settlement build mods, they added buildings and such to the workshop, nothing spectacular, and after merging, using either of those ways, I had files that were part of the merge left as master files for the merge, on checking I found out that neither of them was doing the full copy of entries from the esp into the new merge esp, but in some cases only copying some of those entries, which left esps as semi merged and required as master files, which I found a bit odd, this was on fallout 4 though.

Thank You for the input, both of you!!! I'm still new to modding SSE, figured it wouldn't be as difficult.

In theory both of those programs are supposed to make things easy, in my case I have no idea why those items are not being added to the merge, both of the merge programs used to work quite nicely, I have done merges with the stand alone previously and had no problems with them.  Your best bet is to simply do the merge and see if you end up with problems, if they are just armor/weapons it should be no problem.

I am, after play testing some weapon mods I merged together, missing some weapons that were from the original mod. Gonna do some more research on this, if not its a work around I have to settle with.
