Dude500X Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Hi all. Ok so basicially the only shooter game ive played online is Mass Effect 3 so.. yeah. Anyway, I was thinking of trying left for dead 2 as it appears to be more co-op based which is more my thing. But I hear that games like Modern Warfare and Battlefield also have good co-op multiplayer. Anyway, I really want it to work for Steam or Origin.. its easier for me that way. Anyway, anyone got any suggestions?
LordJerle Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Battlefield 3 is good coop multiplayer, CoD, hahahaha not so much. Even if you play the coop mode (zombie), unless you're playing with people you know, they're only out for themselves. I would also suggest (if you have a good enough rig for it) Planetside 2. I've been playing it for a week or so and I'm very impressed with the coop mechanics.
polluxval Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Battlefield 3 it´s pretty good. god crist lordjerle ninjaded me...
Nonsense667 Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I miss battlefield 3 so much. T_T Got so damn into that game, like no multiplayer before it. But they pulled that premium bullshit, which just kinda pissed me off, and my xbox doesn't connect to the internet anymore for some reason. So there is that. >.< And I don't want to go through bullshit of origin just for one game. So. But damn was it fun while it lasted. Currently filling my multiplayer fps void with Planetside 2, and it is certainly a great replacement. Spent way more on it than I should have. >.> But still... miss the freaking intensity, and polish, of battlefield 3. And my sexy bipod on my light machine gun, hah. Battlefield pulled that off PERFECTLY, it was so damn fun to find a good place to set up, deply, then DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA. It's so funny how recent cods have tried to copy that mechanic, and have failed at it horribly in comparison.
Vulgaris Magistralis Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Planetside 2 is pretty good, as I've heard. I've tried it myself, but I'm plain terrible at it, probably due to lag Blacklight Retribution, a free 2 play shooter (As well as Planetside 2), can't say much on it, haven't played it personally, but I've heard good things about it. Natural Selection 2, though the shooting is more so on the human side, where the alien side is more melee based. Gotham City Imposters, another f2p FPS shooter, I dunno if people still play it though, but it's alright. Other then those, and BF3 and CoD. I could say, Counter Strike, TF2, Left 4 Dead (though the online is full of knobheads) All those I've listed are on steam and should be pretty cheap as well, the non F2P ones I mean.
GreyElf Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 If you like shooting zombies, a fun alternative to the l4d games is Killing Floor, on steam. It goes on sale a lot, and has a lot of free content updates (they mostly charge for cosmetic skins, and give out content for free, though they did come out with a community mod weapon pack recently). It's entirely co op, with rpg-style perk leveling kind of like character classes, etc. Fun stuff. They have special events around holidays too, with different maps and enemies.
Guest Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 The FPS genre is over saturated with tons upon tons of games. Along with games already mentioned, there's Far Cry 3, Counter Strike/Global Offensive/Source, Team Fortress 2 and more like... A:CM (lol). And +1 for Killing Floor. It's an amazing game!
sponschga Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Try Natural Selection 2 or wait for the F2P shooter from Crytec, forgot the name. NS2 is also on Steam and often on sale.

sponschga Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Yep, it's called Warface. http://www.crytek.com/games/warface/overview but absolutly no idea if it works with Steam or Origin.
Strelky Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 An FPS game on steam that i really enjoy is Metro 2033, however, that game had its flaws from lack of funding, so you may want to wait for Metro: Last Light

I almost love any terror theme game and when they take russians + terror = perfect. something similar to STALKER.

These games had one of the best settings I've ever seen in a game. These games got me interested in the Chernobyl incident, just the reality of it is scary as hell, let alone adding monsters and supernatural shit into the mix. It's really frightening because this is a very real possibility and could happen again at any time...minus the mutants and invisible shit.
