Do spells produce sound in Oblivion?

The title says it all really, I know in Skyrim spells can be heard until you unlock a silent casting illusion perk but I can't find anything about it in Oblivion, and I can't really test it out in game since my stealth is pretty low level at the moment so I don't know if detection is due to a spell or not. Anyone know?

While I'm here, a quick question about spell effectiveness - one of the loading screen tips said that spell effectiveness penalties are reduced as the armour skill increases, but the skill menu and UESP say anything about that? Can anyone confirm this and if so, at what skill level?

If you mean heard by NPCs...yes. Depending on skill, spell type cast, proximity...line-of-sight, etc. Luck, too...

Destruction spells are apparently invisible/inaudible to the target unless successfully hit, though. Not sure if they just forgot...but a fireball can whiz by and that bandit doesn't care. He might hear you throw it, though.

Current spell effectiveness is listed on one of the menus...forget exactly which one...

Yes in sounds.

Every spell group has own sound:  example

SPLConjurationCast [SOUN:0014681C]

SPLMysticismCast [SOUN:0014682B], SPLMysticismFail [SOUN:0015976B] , SPLMysticismHit [SOUN:0014682C],  SPLMysticismTravelLP [SOUN:0014682D]

some elemental spells have own sound:

SPLFireballCast [SOUN:00146822],  SPLFireballFail [SOUN:00159768],  SPLFireballHit [SOUN:00146823] , SPLFireballTravelLP [SOUN:00146824]

All  IDs start wit SPL

And there are the Magic Failure Sounds, think there are for spell creation.

MagicFailureSoundAlteration [SOUN:0000012C]

MagicFailureSoundConjuration [SOUN:0000012D]

... and the other 4 spell groups.

EDIT: Oh... stupid. I should read posts more carefully.  Ignore the above shit.

Heared by NPC: Like a bow if it is a  attack.  But If you cast a  self spell ( night eye or chameleon )  no NPC  notice me. OK I don't do it next to the NPC.

And spells have effects ( light , dust, sparkles ... maybe NPC see  it.

Armor :  I do not know the calcutation.

But with  "untrained" armor all your skill are reduced.  Run, jump, fight, spell cast,...

Ok, thanks. So I'm generally safe to be casting spells in stealth.

I've found that spell effectiveness decreases as armour skill increases, to a minimum of 5%. Turns out I didn't read the wiki carefully enough!
