Deep Red Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 So I've recently downloaded and installed Numenume Hair from the Nexus.. has anyone figured out how to resolve the transparency glitch with the hair pack? Reading the comments on the entry on there, it seems like using a ENB setting with SSAO causes it. Is the problem still there, or is there a fix for it now? I've done some poking around on my own, but can't find a solution. It's been about a year now since it was released on the Nexus, and I really don't want to turn off ENB for it. Who plays Skyrim without it these days, right? Anywho, here's the entry on the Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11173
Rayblue Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Perhaps the only way to fix it is to open the .NIF in question with NIFskope, or PM the author and try to have him fix the glitch.
Deep Red Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Yeah, I've played around with some of the meshes for the hair and messed around with them. My guess is that something is wrong with the alpha properties, but I haven't the first idea of what I'm looking for there. I've already requested on the thread along with a few other people experiencing the same problem, but that was about 4-5 months ago if I remember right. Also tried PMing the author, but he seems to be MIA or on a hiatus.
xxomegafactorxx Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 yeah I've also been having problems with Amy's hair and I also believe it has something to do with the Alpha properties hopefully someone will fix this soon.
Rayblue Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Hmmm... perhaps editing the .DDS files in Gimp and saving to a different format (say, DXT1 with an alpha channel) may be a necessary stopgap measure.
Veta Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Apparently you have to disable SSAO for it to be fixed .
xxomegafactorxx Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 hmm I think the hairs are missing their tri files all other hair mods seem to have a tri file except this one
Deep Red Posted March 8, 2013 Author Posted March 8, 2013 So I decided to mess around with the alpha properties of one mesh in attempt to fix the problem and this was the result. I also did a bit of research on to what the best settings for the alpha flags were in regard to hair meshes, and tried my best to to imitate them. As you can see, it isn't exactly perfect. The alpha layer don't seem to blend well or something. My biggest problem with the result is the dark patch at the frontal hair fringe. I've no idea how to fix it, as I barely have a clue to what I even did... Progress is slow. SSAO is at full blast when I took these screenies btw. Futher input would be greatly appreciated.
