Tron91 Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 Just wondering, I just disabled my Windows Page File totally. Seems FallOut 4 is now running more smoothly. Have 16 GB RAM, Game installed on a 1 TB WD Black SSD. Will there be issues? Or is it good for graphics intensive games, to have the page file totally disabled when you have good amount of RAM. Just as a starting note, Task Manager was showing FO4 memory usage at 3804 MB, after disabling page file, it started reporting 4056 MB usage.

You should be fine with no page file plus it's best if you Turn it off and Just use the 16gb ram as it's more then likely faster then your ssd Word of warning tho If your using the 4k Dlc it has been known to use 16gb ram ( mite be a good idea then to use the page file if that's the case) if you have to use the page file system make sure it on a separate disk to the Game/OS for best results .
Reginald_001 Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 A pagefile is used when your memory runs full. Don't disable the pagefile, if you do, and your memory runs full, your system will simply crash or BSOD. And you'll be here next month asking about 'All teh mysterious crashush'.. Simply have it auto-set on any drive other than your system drive.
Tron91 Posted June 14, 2020 Author Posted June 14, 2020 Don't use the HD DLC so no risk of going overboard with FO4. No BSOD so far, and seems my other apps are also working faster than before. Apps are now starting up faster after I have closed them for the running session. Probably the reload is done from RAM.

Just need to cut down the Hmm Crap for lack of a better word eg Browser windows, and back ground apps, ect,ect
