9thDark Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I need more specific help. I have downloaded over and over again several mods, watched videos on YouTube, followed instructions to the letter. Got things to work according to the instructions like SKSE and ordered the Special Edition and have it running on steam. I've read several forums and instructions and downloaded many times everything I was supposed to be downloading. I even almost have the acronyms down... all this within a week of testing and trying and trying and I still, have not been able to get anything to work at all. I need more help and maybe need to actually talk to someone about what to do. Can anyone help me? Is anyone willing to talk with me? I am willing to hire someone who is confident they can get me using all the mods I want on Skyrim SE. Please help. K.C.
slaveofpeon Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 A good start would be to double check your original install to make sure its properly updated and there arent any compatibility issues with mod versions. Also a good recommendation is to make sure that you have a save after the Helgen escape quest to run your mods, as many mods have issues still with the Helgen Start's Scripting. After doing that, another good step is to let others know what your mod list is, what version of Skyrim you are using (ie is it SE or LE) and what mod loader you are using (Vortex, MO2 etc.) If you have all that, I can try to take a look and see if I can get a stable run going, BUT sometimes all you have to do is one mod at a time. Its time consuming, but it allows you to find out if you are trying too many at once(overloading the PapyrusUtil and such) or if there are mods that are conflicting to begin with. Doesnt help to start with a list of 100+ mods and trim down, but to start with the bare necessities, like the SKSE, and FNIS and their dependancies, and then just add one mod at a time, keeping in mind which version of skyrim the mod is made for and that a simple mistake isnt being overlooked. I dont know how many times I have had to troubleshoot my mod list, only to realize I messed up something in the first few minutes because I was tired or impatient and overlooked it. Heck, once I installed two body replacers at once and couldnt figure out why my character had two belly buttons. It took someone looking at my screenshots telling me I F'd up for that "OH! I See" moment. so yeah, post your list and informations i told you and we can take a look
9thDark Posted June 6, 2020 Author Posted June 6, 2020 At this point I am willing to use whatever is best for Skyrim Special Edition. I like the idea of using Vortex because I am a premium member there but I'm good with Mod Organizer if that is more appropriate for Skyrim SE. I would love to have the essentials like SKSE and FNIS and prefer CBBE, I am interesting in spicing the game up with SexLab and other realistic beautifying mods everyone else is enjoying. I do plan on using some cheats because I'm not interested in building up from scratch yet again and would love to breeze through all these quests I've finished a long time ago. So at this point my main goal is to successfully uninstall all the repeat files downloaded on this laptop and start again from scratch.
9thDark Posted June 6, 2020 Author Posted June 6, 2020 Believe me when I tell you that I've been watching YouTube video after video and following these instructions to the letter (specifically for Skyrim SE and still getting nowhere for an entire week. Your post made a lot of sense to me so I am excited about getting help where I can get it. Just please help me get to a fresh start and we can go from there but I would appreciate actual communication through Discord or whatever form you are willing to use and I am happy to compensate you for your time. Thank you KC
slaveofpeon Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 First Step: NUKE EVERYTHING!!! Well, just any mods you might have downloaded and your Skyrim Install. Like go into the folder and make sure EVERYTHING gets removed when you uninstall using Steam. Once that directory is a crater of nuclear oblivion, where not even a cockroach can live, it will finally be purified to the utmost perfection. Second Step: REINSTALL Skyrim SE. Make sure it is SE NOT LE. LE is an old experienced hooker now, and while she knows how to work, she's not pretty. So we gonna turn that fresh flower of SE into the new age whore she is. *Also make sure you have a clean and fresh version of Vortex. It should be clean and fresh like a pack of condoms bought just for using with the hooker.... I mean Skyrim. No one wants to use a used condom, so make sure its new. Don't want to give SE any mod STDs. Well, not until we download that mod. But thats a different story. Third Step: Check your messages.
nilead Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 That sounds familiar, allbeit my builds used to crash after a while, not at the beginning. Ive joked about it being impossible to make a script heavy stable build, then one GenioMaster proved me wrong. There are some facinating posts in his blog regarding skyrim stability and myths about it. Id encourage you to read them. Good news - its possible to run basicly everything you want at once, worst thing that can happen is some uncomfortable script delay. There are limitation ofcourse, but they mostly fall into "common sense" category, like two mods trying to control the same thing. That was true for Skyrim LE, and i dont see why it wouldnt for SSE. People here are generally helpfull, but you'll need to be more specific. So get a clean install and go from there. You'll most likely get a pretty detailed help with a specific question, like "WTF is cleaning master files" or "I get CTD after i do /insertaction/." But "nothing works" is a way to general. Dont feel discouraged however, once you get your core systems working its easy.
