fangsta Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Hi folks - yesterday FNIS suddenly stopped working and displays the error in the title - no other information. The only thing that changed - as far as I can tell - was a windows update that included a .NET security patch. I have uninstalled all mods, reinstalled Skyrim VR, re-installed FNIS, all without a fix. Still the same error. Gotta be a deeper problem, but I don't have the technical ability to diagnose it. Any thoughts? coolfreaky Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 i think you need to run it as administrator for SE and VR.
anjenthedog Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Quote i think you need to run it as administrator for SE and VR. Not to be contentious, but I just checked and FNIS runs fine on mine, and it's not set to run as administrator. (I *am on Window 10 pro and don't know offhand if that makes a difference. pro may have some permissions set true that aren't in "Home") ------ OP: TBH I've never encountered that problem myself, but a bing search on "FNIS ERROR(5)" produced this related thread https://forum.step-project.com/topic/13615-fnis-and-mod-organizer-2-error-5/https://forum.step-project.com/topic/13615-fnis-and-mod-organizer-2-error-5/ which seems interesting, and this one too https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7083836-help-skyui-error-code-5-tried-everything/ which is less interesting but I suppose possible. there were other links too . https://www.bing.com/search?q=FNIS ERROR(5)%3A Invalid class&qs=n&form=QBRE&sp=-1&pq=fnis error(5)%3A invalid class&sc=1-28&sk=&cvid=4CF400319C2E4AF49BCE27730B5A0029 maybe one will help you nail the beasty. Best wishes
fangsta Posted May 22, 2020 Author Posted May 22, 2020 Alas, I never did pin it down. Ended up repairing windows and reinstalling the whole lot (needed doing for other reasons, anyway). Thanks all.
