Mez558 Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 I have 2 custom followers - Follower A uses default body assets and Follower B has it's own own body and skin textures. I want to make follower A use follower B's custom files. Neither are using a custom race, I've seen the guides to create a Standalone Custom Follower from the ground up in CK but I can't find anything about changing an existing follower? Can it be done or am I looking at duplicating Follower B's files for Follower A?
Grey Cloud Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 AFAIK, it's just matter of changing the file paths with T5E. I might be wrong here as I usually do it the other way aroound, i.e. change the custom stuff to my preferred. What I'd do though is create a folder somewhere sensible and copy the Follower B meshes into it and do the same for the Follower B textures. Then I'd open up Follower A in T5E and change the files paths point at my new folder. This is from a follower called Braelynn who comes with her own body and texture etc. The screens show where the relevant entries are in T5E. So your path would be actors\character\character assets\Follower A\femalebody_1.nif etc. (You would have Follower A open at this point). Check all the other entries in Follower B's esp just in case the author has done something weird. It should be straight forward for just the shape and skin.

Unfortunately follower A is using default assets so those entries don't exist in Follower A's esp to change the paths. I guess I will need to create custom ones in CK and copy the meshes and textures of Follower B.

Right-click on the box where the path should be and 'add'. You can do that with pretty much any box in the esp, e.g. to add a perk or inventory item. I haven't got a 'default' body follower so I used the Male box (see what I did there?) - principle is the same. I also use a different box in the second image (by mistake). You double-click in the box to get it to accept the text. Some boxes have a dropdown arrow way over on the right-hand side of the screen. When typing file paths you should be on Alert: Code Red for typos.

This is what I mean by not being there As Lucien (Follower A) is just using the standard assets there are no custom Armor Addon for his Naked Torse, Feet and Hands while Brann (follower B) does have them as he is a fully standalone follower using Sam Lite assets. I don't know how to create those entries for Lucian in xEdit but I do in CK so I'll use that. I was just looking for a lazy option

Got it working but I did have to add all the Armor, Armor Addon and Texture sets manually in CK. So now I have Lucien with a skinny, hairless SAM Lite body instead of the Hairy SOS body all the other males in my game have. Have a bit of a seam issue with SavrenX's textures for the Lucien overhaul and Kouleifoh's from the body but hopefully I can sort that.
Grey Cloud Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Sounds like far too much work for my liking. I'm just thinking about my new male character that I'll be using for my next playthrough (thanks to my saves dying). I might be getting Big Alf out of mothballs or maybe Geras the Younger.

I am thinking those names are ironic and Big Alf is really kinda small and Geras the younger is similar to "Young Mr Grace" Here's my problem now which I can't seem to resolve Spoiler Think I will have to take this VectorPlexus's site for help tho.
