ModdedMax Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Alright, unless you've been living under a rock for the last year and a half you've heard of, and are probably hyped for, Cyberpunk 2077, which will be releasing this September. The purpose of this post will be to speculate on what type of mods would fit into the world, and who would be best suited to their development. Anything goes. Post whatever you think would fit, or something you'd just like to see

PinkyAndTheBrain Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 They have a proprietary engine and proprietary animation/clothing tools they are never going to release, forget about it.

I have to go with the white mice on this one. CDPR has never been very good with releasing mod tools of their own and I doubt they'll start now. They're just too tightfisted with their tools.
TheCaptn Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Remember when they promised RedKit 2 for The Witcher 3, and then after release changed their minds?... Yeah, I remember. I've got no hope for Cyberpunk modding at all.

Yeah, I remember. I've got no hope for Cyberpunk modding at all. FYI they got hamstrung by nvidia on that one, because when they built their own modding tools they incorporated various proprietary nvidia tech which then couldn't be unbundled without breaking everything. In turn, they weren't willing to "pay a license" for everyone else for modding. Round it out that their in-house toolkit for making the game was as stable as a druggie needing a fix 14 days ago? Yeah. Not happening. CP2077? Possible, but they had a major engine rewrite in that too. Various upsides: AMD has their own competing frameworks and API's which are compatible(and have no royalty overhead). This has let the community to build their own modkit, downsides of course is you need some basic understanding of esoteric 'guts and glory' work to get into it. It's nowhere near end-user workable like the creation kits.
